and there will be work restrictions to receive Medicaid. If people are able bodied, require them to work.

I’ve been pretty clear that our tax revenue significantly falls behind other first world countries as a % of GDP and any tax cuts until we’ve balanced the budget is a gross mishandling of our country’s finances and future economic prospects.

The only reason my question is “undeserving of an answer” to you is because it puts the lie to your fiscal conservatism mantra.

What are the total dollars for Medicaid in the current budget? What are the total dollars for Medicaid in this proposed budget?

Exactly right. These are the people Jo speaks of when mentioning wanting to have their bills paid for them.

According to HHS they estimate this will affect only about 10% of current recipients but the actual monitoring of that 10% will cost more than they'd save. Personally, if it's not going to be a significant/prohibitive additional cost to the states, I'd want them to work.

Oh. I definitely will attach my 'funny.' Because your post is hilarious. (Other than that crass, hurtful word you used, which hurt me.)

    1) You're still trotting out that "tax cuts are free because they produce growth" nonsense, huh. You are aware that the CBO scored the bill, factoring in growth? It's definitely funny that you think anyone else doesn't know that, or would fall for that another time. :)

    2) You're still pretending that Trump is making any meaningful spending cuts? Absolutely hilarious - definitely deserving of a 'funny' rating.

    3) Trump has his work cut out for him and you're praying ....... but ceaselessly cheerleading him literally do the opposite of what our country needs. Ya, that's funny too.

    4) You were born in the early 50s, after which our country ran up deficits in almost every year. In other words, our citizens consumed things without paying for them. But you honestly will assert that "nobody has ever paid [your] bills?"

Who paid for the roads you drive on? For our military during our lifetimes? For a significant portion of these things, and others, nobody has paid yet. Somebody else will.
But yeah, nobody ever paid your bills. :)

Is there a 'hilarious' rating? We need it.

Shouldn't you personally pay down your share of the debt ...... or admit that somebody else is paying your bills? (or presumably will be)

I prefer the House bill without the SALT crap inside it. Take that SALT down to zero, or close to it, and then run with it. I would like to put in all the Senate deductions (before the Parliamentarian sullied it) and put in all the work requirements for Medicaid into the House bill too.

So they should just keep letting these free loaders get benefits?

Feel free to research the Medicaid program that Georgia instituted. They are currently the only state that ties work to Medicaid and their data is that which I referred. BTW they initially had a monthly work check-in requirement but it was so costly they quickly went to an annual, but still say it costs more than it saved. It did, however, initially discourage Medicaid sign up as it was difficult to use with the changes that kept happening.

Do you have children, or possibly grandchildren? If so, please be sure to thank them for paying down all the extra consumption you enjoyed from all the debt accrued during your lifetime, and by that Donald Trump guy.

Tell them that you really really thought that all the extra growth would pay for the tax cuts, even though you were in or near your 30s the first time that failed under Reagan. Tell them you not only fell for that again, 20 years after that, but strenuously argued that long-failed point 20 years after that. They'll show you the new LOL rating ... just after they get done laughing in your face.

Because if they don’t they either

    - Go get emergency care and don’t pay and drive up the cost of private health care

    And/OR

    - Don’t get preventative healthcare and wait until the condition gets worse and then receive more expensive emergency care

I really don’t believe denying access to healthcare saves money. All the evidence supports the opposite:

    - most developed countries have universal care and they are all cheaper than ours
    - Federal healthcare spending after ACA turned out to be even less than projected federal healthcare spending, with the projections even before ACA.

Also, if people who need mental health care or addiction recovery treatment don’t get treated it affects us all negatively. I’ve seen a lot of friends and acquaintances of my adult daughter - who fall somewhere between normal and qualifying for disability. They often have mental health issues and other health issues sometimes fall into addiction, but can’t consistently hold jobs. My daughter would fall into this category if we didn’t provide her health insurance.

I seriously doubt denying people health care is going to somehow cause them to resolve all of their issues and go and be able to productively hold a job.

Doubt I'll see any tax breaks. I'm retiring in a couple of months. But yeah, I'll accept any tax breaks I do get. I'll need them to pay for higher healthcare costs down the line when they decide they have to cut Medicare and SS benefits because of the huge increase in the deficit this turd of a bill will cause.
