Why can’t it be both?
When we go to Oxford, and beat the crap out of Kiffoon's new team....
Miullen will give him a friggin "Hotty Toddy", and welcome him into the SEC again!
Good hire for Ole Miss. Lane will give bring a ton of energy to that program.
Just about ANYB ODY would bring more energy to that program...
if they become a threat, bama will have them knocked back down a few notches
NCAA will be coming to town soon.
4,000 people showed up for the announcement apparently. Beer was even 1/2 off in the Pavilion for the event (because Oxford), and it was the first day in a pretty long time that it was exciting to be on campus.
I have such mixed feelings about Kiffin, both as a coach and as a person...
He's showed some promise, yet he's been extraordinarily disappointing, though a good portion of that is just being an impulsive jackass who hops from job to job and says stupid shit on the regular...
As a person, well... on one end... he's boy genius... Yes, he failed with the Raiders and at Southern Cal, but the guy was like in his early 30s... and the dude can coach offense... He's basically a poor man's Sean McVay before Sean McVay...
On the other hand, he comes across as a spoiled brat and an asshole... who really got his foot in the door with coaching because of his daddy... I normally try and give legacies a pass for getting their start through connections, but come on... Kiffin's case is just ridiculous... It's like he's begging people to hate him...
Check out this story by David Carr...
I can't believe they are paying him over 16 million for 4 years. I saw him on Finebaum yesterday and after the interview the 1st caller said he came across as a snake oil salesman. My sister is a UM grad and she is not very happy about it.
That is brilliant!
Those guys are going to be pigs in poop when they see ole miss coeds.
He also has over $2mil in possible incentives available:
There are a number of incentives built into Kiffin's contract. Namely, Kiffin is set to earn $150,000 per SEC win after his fifth conference win of every season.
Kiffin will earn $100,000 for every regular season, non-conference victory against a Power 5 opponent. Participating in the SEC championship game will earn Kiffin $150,000. If Ole Miss wins the SEC championship game, Kiffin will instead make $400,000.
If Kiffin wins SEC coach of the year, he'll earn a $50,000 bonus and if he wins national coach of the year, he'll earn a $100,000 bonus, according to the contract.
Kiffin's postseason incentives work out as the following:
Win CFP championship: $1,000,000
Make CFP championship: $750,000
Make CFP semifinals: $500,000
Make New Year's Six access bowl: $250,000
Make Citrus Bowl: $125,000
Make Group of Six SEC bowl: $100,000
Make Birmingham or Independence Bowl: $50,000
Any chance this gets us a third episode of Kiffin's Krimson Korner???
The guy is a relatively young millionaire in South Florida. Don't you think hes already on that diet?
We all know Lane has a past and much of it is ugly. Yes, he got an advantage for being the son of a very good D coach. He took advantage of that but who of us wouldn't? He has had his share of failures but also successes. I only know about him as in the past but have no idea if he's turned the corner in his personal life. I would like to think so. Sometimes life can wise us up and I've always loved great reformation stories. Maybe he is still a jerk or maybe not. But if he has changed then he gets a big thumbs up from me.
I've never been to Oxford and I've heard good things about the village, so I'm not sure if the cliche "cold day in hell" works here, but just saw on the news its snowing there right now and they're expecting 1-3 inches. Poor Lane having to endure that, of course assuming he's already there?
Do you plan to accept the job?
In other words, he will owe Ole Miss money every year.
At least he'll save 'em a bunch of money...
Can we please be blessed with a new hype video from ole Lane
