Thanks for info. Not surprising. Wish him the best of luck.
This one comes as zero surprise. Ballard next?
Read what you will into Mike's not mentioning the coaches in his goodbye tweet.
Okauru, a 6-3 rising junior guard, announced his decision later Tuesday on Twitter.
“Thankful for the teammates I had at Florida and the Rowdies who supported, but I’ve decided to transfer and purse other options,” he wrote.
Regardless of the writing on the wall, days like this are always a downer for me.
I expect Okaru to be a solid contributor somewhere. Wish him the best, but he obviously didn't match what our staff wanted
Earlier in the season, I saw this as a distinct possibility but then he began getting minutes with Ballard going AWOL. I then thought maybe he would be staying and Ballard leaving. Not that Ballard won't but it is interesting to say the least.
My prediction was that we would have at least 2 transfers and 2 grads coming in. This is feeling like a home run prediction.
Now about my Lotto numbers...
Makes sense. Next season Mann and Nembhard will be the PGs. We need depth elsewhere. White wants to win next season.
You want to borrow mine?
I will give you half the cost of the winning ticket once you collect the winnings for the both of us. Honest!
Ballard was doing fine until he got hurt, then he couldn't play and when he did, was slowed down. I think he has a lot of upside. Hope he stays.
Seriously WTH. 4 transfers in 1 year? I've never seen anything like it.
Maybe it's for the better, we can get a complete overhaul. But is this a sign of a systemic problem under White, or kids complaining about a lack of playing time, or both?
I think some of it is White having to reach on kids his first few recruiting cycles here while he built relationships.
Antonneous Clayton did mention his current coaches in his farewell statement either. That's the way it goes when players don't get playing time.
That's what happens when the talent level improves. They could've stayed on the bench next year. We need guys to clap when Tre makes a three or Scottie gets a dunk.
Wish him the best!
I don't see it as a systemic problem under White". Seems to me it's players recognizing they aren't going to be getting much playing time (and don't know that they're complaining about it rather than just reading the handwriting on the wall).
I wish them all the best at their new schools, sometimes a fresh start at a new program can do wonders.
Lol..you must have missed the post championship years under Billy D. Players were transferring in AND out at a rapid rate. Some posters said the same things you did back then too. Funny how history repeats itself sometimes.
I wonder if the players know the grad transfers White is looking at and likely to bring in.
I am OK with having transfers out as long as the general impression is not that they were run off. If we get that rep it can be used for negative recruiting.
Playing time. Okauru sees a MCD AA guard coming in.
Okauru will be the third string PG when Mann comes in. I can see why he left playing time wise. Plus we have a preferred walk on at guard (Lewis team mate). Helps UF as Okauru's scholarship is needed more at other positions.
I would not be surprised if top grad transfers are looking at UF now as a place play in the NCAA tournament next year.
