I prefer the high ball screen offense we are running now versus the DDO. I don't know if it reminds me of the older Gator Basketball teams? Maybe because the team has embraced it? Maybe it is because we had no choice with Key going down? Maybe it is because we start two bigs? Whatever it is, I just prefer it and it seems like we are thriving with it. We also play much better at a faster pace. This team is dare I say...fun to watch.

All that and this team is deep and improving. Just about everyone played and scored today.

I don't care what kind of offense it is. As long as they aren't standing around while one guy plays iso-ball. In my basketball experience, almost any offense will work if you practice it and/or have talent. The one thing you can't do is stop moving.

Oh yea I agree with that, just having a nostalgia moment I guess or maybe because it seems like our version of the DDO looked exactly like you said we can't with no movement. I can't put my finger on it honestly

I think we are seeing guys who are playing more and thinking less. I don't know if that can all be contributed to changing the offense but whatever it is they are winning and winning over a lot of fans.

Nate Oats is really the only college coach I've seen who correctly embraces the DDO concept. If you're not going to play using the expected value of shots, then some other philosophy might be better. Perhaps CMW has found his coaching niche like Leonard Hamilton finally did.

Exactly, I have no idea what it is but it is wat more fluid. Maybe it is TNT (Tre, Noah, Tyree) in the backcourt? Yes that is my nickname for that backcourt because they can fly up and down the court and all shoot 3s. That allows us to play those two bigs (Payne/CC) at the same time.

Or maybe because it's the offense that virtually every team in the NBA uses, and for good reason - it works! along with the spacing and cutting...at least for the most part.

I would love to see TNT go down in the basketball lore of Florida where all you had to do was say it and fans automatically knew what you were talking about.

When you start winning and have confidence, the game just comes easier to you. Bad teams make everything look hard. If you have high IQ players with fundamentals and skill, the coach doesn't even need to design or run an offense. Being in the right spot and motion occurs naturally.

We also see a lot more motion and a lot less standing around, which defenses hate. Wears them out

I think the biggest difference... the biggest impact, by far.... is Mann and Appleby on the floor together. That pairing has completely changed how we play and how we are defended.

I honestly don't think any of us ever liked the DDO.

    Couldn't agree with this more.

Appleby has let Mann go be Mann and not try to be something he's not - all while Appleby does what he does best: be Appleby.

Hows that for explaining how they work well together without explaining how they work well together? :D

All while circling 4 talented high motor bigs into the front court. It's working!

I agree and having enough big bodies to hang in there share fouls against a very good big man today made a difference. They got beat some but they never got defeated and I think wore him down and also got him in foul trouble late.

That’s what I was going to say. Like Thank the Lord! I hope this isn’t temporary and we go back to the DDO next season.
