Wow, the pot calling the kettle black. Now THAT is original. Is that your usual move, or did you forget the old and reliable "I know you are, but what am I?"
I don't think you need 50 or 60 but your point is 100% accurate. In reality I think you need maybe 5-8 impact players in each recruiting class of say 25 players. That would give you 20 -32 impact players on the roster at any one point. That means you are getting 15 or so players taken in the NFL draft with a number of first rounders, like OSU, UGAG and TX. That gets you to the playoffs and a shot at a natty.
Two deep at almost every position play plenty of snaps, then kickers, snappers, return guys.....about 50 needed to play a game and injuries go right past those numbers.
What TG has done in 3 yrs is incredible to the point of amazing. He took a very average bb team and without 5 star players worked his magic into a championship team. Each yr making improvements. His hiring assistants and game time adjustments were on point. Competition was insane and yet he won. In contrast, BN was handed just about everything imaginable. Two bad seasons and a minor bowl win his third year is still underwhelming. But I'll take a 9 win season and hopefully an offense that scores in bunches, play calling that converts third downs, and no more momentum busters.
I wonder what our roster would rank talent and experience wise if there was a legit ranking? I just want to play to or above that mark.
