That’s a good question. I’d say there’s a rule temporarily suspended. But that’s just my best guess. Although if a player gets granted that eligibility and plays in the playoffs or a non playoff bowl game then it sets a precedent. If that were to happen then the only logical course of action would to be setting up an in-season transfer deadline, similar to a trade deadline in pro leagues.

In that scenario, say the deadline is October 31st, you could transfer after that, but you’d be ineligible to play in the post season. But if you transfer prior to that then you’d be eligible.

Being a casual fan is liberating. It just doesnt mean that much anymore to a lot of folks. There's nothing wrong with that either.

It means nothing but money to the players so why should it mean anything to anybody else? If you want to watch the best players compete for money you already have professional sports. College athletics was about rivalry, tradition and representing the college. It was never about paying for the best athletes, that is already a success with the NFL.

What niche does cfb fill if it's not the best players, has no rivalries, traditions or representation of the school (outside of using the schools branding to maximize profit)? I have no idea but it doesn't really hold my interest much anymore. For the first time in my memory I can't think of more than a couple players named and have no idea who any of the coaching staff is outside BN and the DC.

I watched the Division 2 semifinal today between Colorado School of Mines and Kutztown. Packed stadium, snow piled up on the sidelines, guys playing for the love of the game, their family and their school. 4, 5 and 6 year seniors. Very refreshing.

You should just be able to switch teams at halftime if your team starts losing

The transfer player will soon be able to enroll into “on line classes” which will have a rolling admission and start date.

As a university professor this is nuts! A non athlete student can withdraw after drop deadline and get all failing grades. There’s usually about 3 months deadline ahead of next semester for acceptance and enrollment. The phrase “student athlete” is about like Clark griswold saying “burn dust, eat my rubber”

I think we need to drop the word "scholarship" and just just call it what it is....a one year employment contract.

Can you play past your 5th year? Do they get an extra scoop of ice cream and both chocolate AND rainbow sprinkles, even if they didn’t eat their veggies. Wtf is happening?

Why wait until halftime? Have the opposing fans pass a collections tray around like at church. If they raise enough cash just jog over to their sidelines and switch uniforms.

The schools could station an admissions representative and advisor in a tent on the sidelines for newly "enrolled" "student" athletes.

Very weird that the courts have ruled that a private, voluntary membership organization can’t make its own rules.

Where are all these players jumping in the portal think they are going to? Last I checked, the top programs have a limited amount of players that they can have on roster. What happens when their dream destination says sorry, but we found somebody better?

Why not make a new BA program in athletic arts, anything can be a performance art right?

12 credit hour course that covers practice and games.
