My post was made in the bottom of the first. Shumaker flied out on a 3-0 count. I heard it on the radio and the box score confirms it.

And perhaps they are doing that-and the players continue to fall back into old habits-none of during crucial times none of us are there at practices or in game huddles or dug outs

If we don't get Otis, Cahalan and Erickson hitting better than they have been we're not going far because our pitching this year is not going to hold quality teams down to 2-3 runs. I know some will say look at Jocelyn's OB % and she hit a HR tonight. All good. But look at her in SEC games and she is nbot getting many hits nor driving in runs anywhere near the pace of last year. And Korbe is way, way down from her numbers from last year and really not hitting at all. And Kenleigh's hitting the last month has been abysmal. Falby, Shumaker, Walsh and Holtorf have been steady, but it's to take the whole order contributing if they want to make it to the WCWS.
Tonight's hame, to me, is no big deal and the wins over Oklahoma were great. But I'm concerned about the NCAA tournament.

It really is all just going to depend who we draw in regionals and super regionals

If that's the case then the player isn't who we think she is. I've seen to many good player's interviews that say they want to be coached, if that's the case why wouldn't they listen, especially with how many good players this team has

Can't answer that since I am not privy to what is said behind the scenes

Let’s face it our pitching is not good enough to get us very far in the regionals and if we get to the super regional, I can’t see us getting past that. And we definitely need a much better hitting Coach

In my opinion, if Erickson would swing at the first pitch since it’s always right over the middle of the plate instead of watching it go by maybe her hitting will improve. But what do I know not much I’m afraid

And did I see that we left 15 runners on base tonight?

I’d love it if Otis would swing at the first pitch sometimes too. If just to keep their pitcher from getting away with a fat first pitch. I really like this team and want them to succeed.

Nope. I keep a full scorebook. It was a 1-2 count.

I also keep track if the first pitch is a ball or strike. First pitch to her in the first was a strike. If I remember correctly, she swung at the first pitch and fouled it off down the third base line.

The loss last night was very disappointing. Sometimes they are great and sometimes not so good. One never knows which team is going to show up. I'm afraid with this current average pitching staff the odds are slim they will make it to the WCWS. The good news is that I'm almost always wrong. Go Gators.

You are wrong, my man. I remember distinctly the radio announcer commenting on her swinging at a 3-0 pitch, although she hit it hard and the outfielder made a nice catch. Check the PBP in the box score.

You literally took the words out of my mouth! The only thing I’d add is with pitching/defense having a down season the offense has to carry the team. Don’t want them to play tight but there has got to be more urgency, aggression even at the plate.

Also, go back and look at MCB51's PBP on Page 2 of this thread. After Taylor flew out and I immediately posted that I wish she hadn't swung at 3-0 and got an "Agree"..

Ocala: There is no possible way I am wrong. No possible way. I keep score on every pitch. How do you think I know the first pitch was a strike? The box score you are looking at is wrong. It has the correct count for Kendra, Jocey and Reagan in the first but not for Taylor. There isn't room for debate on this. In the third Taylor struck out swinging on a 2-2 pitch after the first pitch was a ball. In the fifth Taylor had the infield single on a 1-1 pitch after the first pitch was a strike. In the seventh she homered on a 2-0 count. In the eighth she singled up the middle on a 2-2 count after the first pitch was a strike.

I rest my case. Thanks. I can't remember crap but I can read what I write down pitch by pitch by pitch. Plus, no way Taylor is swinging in the first inning on a 3-0 count. Would never happen.
