I think Kenleigh was right, should've tried a pinch hitter!

That too. OU is still just better in most areas.

And we'll see her again Saturday. Very tough loss. It's interesting how other teams adjust to our pitchers after the first time or two through the lineup, while we never seem to do that. Our batters faced this pitcher 5 times tonight and they looked the same at the end as they did early in the game.

Every year our hitting starts falling off in April &May ….I don’t know, but I think we need a new hitting coach and I know we’ve been saying this for years.

Yes, and it seems like she’s getting jammed on a lot of pitches hitting the ball on the handle. They may need to adjust her stance. In the first inning she almost got hit by a pitch that I thought was a strike.

Depressing. But we still have what we want in front of us.

That might be, but realistically does anyone really see this team challenging for a championship in OKC?

Cahalan is just not succeeding rn. Hortolf and Willams are at least doing something every other at bat or game. Us and Texas have shown that OU is not invincible. I still think we make OKC, ALOT of teams around the country do not have a strong staff behind their ace pitcher. If we hold on to a top 8 seed the teams I would not want to see in supers are: UCLA, Oregon and Bama. Losing game 1 and Kennedy Martin transferring sad vibes

Even though we had a chance to walk it off in the seventh and eighth, Oklahoma had nearly twice as many hits as us and it could have turned out much worse.

They've shown they can beat Texas A&M and hang with Texas and Oklahoma (get blown out too). Who knows. lol

I agree, it seems like they are daring pitchers to not throw her inside(where she had success last year) and make them throw outside but she is not connecting well enough.

We definitely haven’t met our very high expectations for this year and appear rather inconsistent. But like others have pointed out, if you can get to OKC, you never know.

I AGREE. The early Thomas years we were not impressive besides the hitters that were already good. His recruiting classes were also not good. IDK what has changed recently where he has been able to pull top talent and change the offensive numbers.

Cash doesn’t hurt. A revamped approach to NIL could explain some things.

Maybe he should just be the recruiting coach going forward and not deal with hitting duties.Arkansas hit 3 homeruns off Berzon in the 1st inning while we couldn't do squat off her. Maybe he is a good recruiter but he is not a good hitting coach.

I was reading elsewhere that some thought the home plate ump was inconsistent..not saying that is why we lost ..we had opportunity but didn't take advantage of them..there were other reasons we lost tonight.
    Thoughts?

Watching first and second pitches for strikes is a recurring theme for this team. OK and LSU don’t seem to have the same approach

Even though the Oklahoma coach has a 6-1 record against Walton, she only has a 3 run scoring margin. I’m guessing that means we beat them by a large margin in the one victory, last year at the WCWS, and then six very close losses, most by one run. They’ve had some outstanding teams but when one coach is 6-0 against another in close games you begin to see a pattern.
