This game is sure not going to be a gimmee from everything I am reading. The Gators will more than have their hands full with a team that starts 4 forwards and likes to push the ball at a fast pace. Still, I have faith coach White and his assistants will have a good game plan and I see no reason we can't win if we execute properly. One of the main reasons I believe that is due to the caliber of opponents we have faced this year. I feel this team has grown a lot and if they bring their A game it will be enough. Still, no guarantees and I know that too.

With that said we got there and with the roller-coaster year we've had that is a big accomplishment IMO

CMW gets to match wits with a former NBA head coach, too. We’ll be another interesting aspect and *test*.

Made shots will be important so we can fall back into our soft 1-2-2 zone defense when they bring the ball up the court. We do that enough and it will slow them down. We start missing too many shots in a row and they will start pushing it up every time.

Watching the CBS national news last night, I didn't expect a
tear-jerking, heart-warming story about the Martin brothers.
Now the whole country is pulling for them.

TV20 in Gville had an interesting comment with Jalen Hudson tonight. He said he played with the Martin twins back in AAU ball and even thought of them as family. Hopefully that intel from Jalen helps us slow down there key players and gives us more options to rely on.

    FLORIDA GATORS NATIONAL RANKS
    Offensive efficiency, 73rd (109.6)
    Defensive efficiency, 13th (92.4)
    3-point percentage, 224th (33.4)
    3-point percentage D, 39th (31.6)
    Free throw rate, 277th (29.5)
    Free throw rate D, 310th (32.0)
    TO percentage, 109th (17.6)
    TO percentage D, 11th (23.1)

    HOW FAR WILL THEY GO?
    Best-case scenario: Second round
Florida's defense is solid enough to push the squad into the round of 32. The rugged SEC schedule, and the variety of styles the Gators faced in the regular season, should have prepared them for the rigors of NCAA tournament play. If Hudson can give Allen and Nembhard scoring help on the perimeter, then Florida can set its full-court pressure after made baskets and create the pace it desires. o_O

    Worst-case scenario: One and done
The offense fails to show up as Hudson & Co. drop a ton of bricks and Hayes gets in early foul trouble, exposing the Gators' lack of front-court depth. Florida's inability to score efficiently from the paint, beyond the arc or at the free throw line leads to long stretches of inactivity on the Gators' side of the scoreboard. Florida surrenders multiple point-blank putbacks and digs a deep hole from which it cannot recover.

    NEVADA NATIONAL RANKS
    Offensive efficiency, 23rd (114.8)
    Defensive efficiency, 30th (94.7)
    3-point percentage, 124th (35.3)
    3-point percentage D, 83rd (32.8)
    Free throw rate, 19th (41.3)
    Free throw rate D, 41st (27.6)
    TO percentage, 9th (14.3)
    TO percentage D, 113th (19.5)

    HOW FAR WILL THEY GO?
    Best-case scenario: Final Four
Nevada was a possession away from the Elite Eight a year ago, so it's not a huge leap to think the Wolf Pack could extend their season another weekend. No team in the tournament is more experienced. Their length, especially on the perimeter with the Martin twins, will be a big advantage against teams not used to seeing it, and Nevada did go unbeaten in nonconference play. The game tends to slow down in the NCAA tournament, but if Nevada can impose its pace and get the game into space, getting to the Final Four could certainly be the ending for this group of seniors.

    Worst-case scenario: First weekend
The biggest question mark around the Wolf Pack is whether they were tested enough. They played much of the Mountain West season, especially near the end, like they just couldn't wait to get to the postseason. Yet, other than Utah State, the challenges in the conference are few. Could that anxiousness hurt Nevada, or could the fact that the Wolf Pack didn't play many tournament-level games during the season leave them vulnerable? It the answer to either is yes, then an early exit is possible. :p

In a way, the veteran Wolfpack could be like our ‘07 group: got a little bored with the regular season, let their intensity slip a bit waiting for the post season to ratchet up the intensity and focus again.

But our ‘07 group turned it on for the post season. They didn’t lose the conference tourney. Had momentum going good for the NCAA’s!

Hopefully our very tough schedule has prepared us for this. Plus, we're not playing at home!

    Found it.
Nevada's Martin twins and their mother do touching interview on CBS Evening News

For one, how their mother literally raised them by herself in a double-wide trailer in North Carolina....
"There have been difficult times, tough times in Cody and Caleb's lives, though they always come back to the strength of their mother when explaining why they've been able to persevere and succeed. Their mother essentially raised them as a single mother. She has worked tirelessly to make sure her sons could pursue an education, and their passion for basketball.

He really drove home the point that his mother had made so many sacrifices for them, how sometimes she wouldn't eat meals at night so the kids could have a second serving, all because she loved them so much," Murray says. "That showed me how much they loved her and wanted her to be the hero. It's obvious she's done a great job with her sons. She's given them the skills necessary to succeed in life. Everything they do is for her."
