    THE STORYLINE

    • Florida and FSU match up for the 66th time in the 29th all-time meeting between the two teams in Tallahassee.

    • The all-time series dates back to 1958 with the Gators owning a 37-26-2 lead and an active three-game winning streak.

    • Both teams have enjoyed significant winning streaks in the series in recent memory. Florida claimed six-straight over FSU from 2004-09, while the Seminoles won five-straight vs. the Gators from 2013-17.

    • During UF’s three-game winning streak, the Gators have outscored the Seminoles by 53 points (105-52, 17.7 pts/g).
    » Florida out-gained FSU, 1,360 yards to 857 yards in those three games (+503, +167.7 yards/game).

    • Across 14 meetings dating back to 2007, only two games in the UF-FSU series has been decided by single-digit points, including last year’s 24-21 home victory by the Gators (the other: FSU 24, UF 19 - Nov. 29, 2014).

    • This is the first meeting between UF HC Billy Napier and FSU HC Mike Norvell as head coaches.

    • QB Anthony Richardson’s 6.6 yards per carry ranks second among qualified FBS quarterbacks.

    • The Gators’ 5.9 yards per carry ranks second in the FBS (behind UCLA) and is in line to tie the school record set in 2008.

    • Florida’s 209.3 rushing yards/game ranks 15th in the FBS, ninth in the Power Five and third in the SEC.

    • The Gators boast three of the top-10 rushers in the SEC in yards per carry: Richardson (fourth - 6.6), RB Trevor Etienne (sixth - 6.2) and RB Montrell Johnson Jr. (10th - 5.8). No other SEC team has three players in the top-15.

    • Florida is one of two FBS teams (alongside Oregon) with three qualified players averaging over 5.8 yards per carry.

    • Richardson is one of three FBS players with 2,300 passing yards and 600 rushing yards this season.

    • Richardson is one of seven FBS players (five in P5) with 12-plus passing TDs and nine-plus rushing TDs.

    • Richardson’s nine rushing TDs rank second among SEC QBs and tied-for-sixth among FBS QBs.

    • G O’Cyrus Torrence is the top-rated guard in the nation at 90.5, according to Pro Football Focus (has never allowed a sack).

    • Florida boasts four come-from-behind wins this season (vs. No. 7 Utah, vs. USF, vs. EWU, at Texas A&M).

    • Florida has scored in 434-consecutive games dating back to 1988 -- an NCAA record and 56 games longer than any other college football team in the history of the sport

WEEK 13 FEATS TO WATCH FOR
    • Florida’s 27 rushing TDs are the program’s fifth-most all-time in a season (2008 - 42, 2007 - 39, 2010 - 31, 2009 - 30).

    • 2022 would be UF’s third-fastest season to eclipse 30 rushing TDs if the Gators rush for three in Week 13.

    • Richardson’s 613 rush yards and nine rushing TDs rank sixth by a UF QB in a season. He needs 15 yards to tie Terry LeCount (1977 - 628) for fifth and 60 to tie 2008 Tim Tebow (673) in fourth. He needs two TDs to tie 2010 Trey Burton with 11 rush TDs.

    • Currently at nine rushing TDs apiece, Johnson Jr. and Richardson are looking to become the second UF duo to rush for 10 TDs each – following Percy Harvin (10) and Tim Tebow (12), who accomplished the feat in 13 games in 2008.

    • When Etienne surpasses 600 rushing yards, the trio of Etienne (576), Richardson (613) and Johnson Jr. (742) will become the third trio in UF history to eclipse 600 rush yards apiece (1984 - Anderson, Williams, Hampton | 2008 -Tebow, Harvin, Rainey, Demps). No UF trio has ever eclipsed 700 rushing yards apiece

    FLORIDA-FLORIDA STATE RIVALRY HISTORY

    Notable Games
    • Oct. 7, 1972 - Unranked Florida routed No. 13 Florida State, in Tallahassee, forcing (and recovering) six fumbles and totaling 307 yards of offense in a 42-13 win. The six fumble recoveries helped the Gators hold off Florida State’s 341-yard passing performance.

    • Nov. 26, 1994 - Fourth-ranked Florida led No. 7 Florida State, 31-3 entering
the fourth quarter. The Seminoles rattled off an 84-yard touchdown drive
    in four-plus minutes, a 60-yard touchdown drive in 33 seconds, a 73-yard
touchdown drive in two-plus minutes, and a 60-yard touchdown drive in
two-plus minutes to tie the game with one minute and 45 seconds left in
regulation. Florida State had a chance to go for the win, but settled for the
31-31 tie. “It was probably the worst loss in my four years of college football,” UF punter Shayne Edge recounted to ESPN’s Jared Shanker in 2014. “Everyone knows that’s a Florida State win.”
“They were all bragging about the tie,” Steve Spurrier said of the game,
now known as the “Choke at Doak”. “I said, ‘Hell, it’s the same for you as
    it is for us.’”

    • Nov. 30, 1996 - No. 1 Florida versus No. 2 Florida State. The Gators fell behind 17-0 in the opening quarter but responded with a pair of touchdown passes from Danny Wuerffel to make it a three-point game. A touchdown run by Pooh Bear Williams midway through the fourth quarter proved to be the edge the Seminoles needed to halt the comeback, and seemingly spoil Florida’s national title aspirations. Fortunately for the Gators, the Pac-10 Conference champion--No. 2 Arizona State--went to the Rose Bowl, and their in over Alabama in the SEC Championship game, paired with Michigan’s upset of Ohio State and Texas’ stunning upset of Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship Game.
All hope was not yet lost.

    • Jan. 2, 1997 - Following a pair of upsets at the end of the season, Florida
entered the 1997 Sugar Bowl ranked No. 3. After Ohio State upset No. 2
Arizona State in the Rose Bowl the day prior, the Gators’ rematch with No.
1 Florida State became the defacto national championship game.
Florida led 24-17 at halftime, and after a Florida State field goal the Gators
rattled off 28 unanswered points to win their first-ever national title.
Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel threw for 306 yards and totaled
four touchdowns, while Terry Jackson ran for 118 yards and two scores.
“Maybe there was a divine guidance,” Steve Spurrier said after the win.

    • Nov. 22, 1997 - It is often called the greatest game ever played in The
Swamp, as No. 10 Florida topped No. 2 Florida State, 32-29 in a thriller.
Adding to the intensity: Florida State players danced on the “F” at midfield
prior to the game. After five lead changes, Florida trailed 29-25 but had the ball and two-plus minutes to work with. Doug Johnson hit Jacquez Green for a 63-yard gain, and Fred Taylor broke off a 16-yard run to set up a one-yard touchdown run for the game-winning score. “The atmosphere was absolutely unreal,” UF linebacker Dwayne Thomas recounted to The Gainesville Sun in 2007. “It’s the loudest I’ve ever heard The Swamp, that’s for sure.”

    • Nov. 20, 2004 - Florida State renamed its playing field in honor of Bobby
Bowden, but to Gators fans, it unofficially became Ron Zook Field.
Although Zook would be at Illinois two weeks later, he got a triumphant
sendoff and one last Gatorade bath as Gators head coach following a 20-13
win over No. 10 Florida State in Tallahassee.

    • Nov. 29, 2008 - One of the most lasting images of this rivarly came from
UF’s 45-15 rout of Florida State in Tallahassee, as Tim Tebow’s white uni-
form was covered in garnet paint after fighting his way into the end zone
for a touchdown on a rain-soaked day. Tebow never lost to FSU.

Hi @GatorGrowl, may I suggest editing the OGT title to honor the late Graygator?
Last year I started the OGT and titled it something like "The first annual Graygator memorial UF vs FSU game."
Maybe we can make this a tradition?
Especially since GrayGator hated fsu unlike any other?

Never heard of this ESPN commentator crew. Hope they took good notes as they are probably used to calling MAC and Sunbelt games.

Anish has been with ESPN for awhile and I have heard him briefly on NFL games. No real opinion, which is usually a good thing. Osweiler is a former NFL qb with the Broncos so I assume he will have some thoughts on QB play.:)

The Day of Reconning is finally here.

Since we will be playing so many inexperienced receivers, why not play a formation with 5 wideouts, spread the field and send AR running.

Oh, and by the way, let’s not have illegal blocking penalties.

100% agree. He needs to run and leave it all on the field today. He does that, we win. He plays conservative and fails to use his legs, not only do we lose but also he will undermine whatever NFL chances he is banking on.

Honestly doesn't even need to be great to win today. Just be aggressive and we'll be fine. If the AR from UT shows up, we'll be fine offensively
