Gators go back on the road again to see if they can keep their current 3 game winning streak going. If they play like they have the last game and a half I think they stand a better than even chance of doing so.

    THE BASICS
    [IMG]
Mizzou Arena (capacity 15,061) was built for $75 million and opened in 2004. The Tigers joined the SEC for the 2012-13 season, with the Gators playing there just three times since. UF is 1-2 in those visits, with losses in 2013 and '15, and a rather memorable victory in '18 (see below).
It's the first back-to-back Southeastern Conference road swing for Florida, which has won three straight, including its first two league games for the first time since 2018. The Gators opened the SEC slate by rallying from 21 down at home to defeat Alabama in double-overtime last week, then going to South Carolina and winning 81-68 on Tuesday night. UF is one of four conference teams (along with No. 5 Auburn, No. 17 Kentucky and LSU) to start 2-0 in league play. The Tigers, meanwhile, have dropped their first two SEC outings, losing at Kentucky last weekend, then Tuesday at home against Tennessee by a 69-59 count. ... Florida leads the all-time series, 7-2, with a four-game winning streak that includes the 64-60 victory Feb. 23, 2019 at Gainesville, Fla. In that one, the Gators trailed by 12 in the second half, but rallied behind senior guard KeVaughn Allen, who scored 14 of his 17 after intermission, none bigger than his two clutch free throws with 5.5 seconds remaining to ice the outcome. After missing all five of his first-half field-goal tries, Allen went 4-for-5 from the floor after intermission and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. Freshman forward Keyontae Johnson added 13 points and a game-best seven rebounds, grabbing three of them in the final 1:18, the last two on errant Mizzou attempts for the lead in the final 30 seconds. ... UF coach Mike White is 4-0 against the Tigers.

    Mizzou Men's Basketball Preview 1/10/2020
Mizzou Hoops Takes on Florida in Saturday Night Tilt at Mizzou Arena
Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network
    Mizzou Basketball Game Notes
    STORYLINES
    • Mizzou enters Saturday night seeking its first league win. The Tigers are looking to snap a four-game losing streak against Florida.
    • A win on Saturday would mark Mizzou's first victory over the Gators since Feb. 24, 2015. The last two meetings in the series have been decided in the final 15 seconds. Sophomore Javon Pickett's go-ahead 3-pointer rimmed out in Mizzou's 64-60 loss at Florida a season ago.
    • Mizzou ranks sixth nationally and leads the SEC in scoring defense, holding opponents to 57.7 points per game. Only three of 14 opponents this season have scored 70+ points against Mizzou. Entering this season, just three Mizzou teams in program history have held opponents to fewer than 60 points per game during a campaign. The current 57.7 opponents points per game pace is the lowest since the 1951-52 team held opponents to 53.2 points per outing. The last time a Mizzou squad allowed fewer than 60 points per game was 1981-92 (59.7 opponent PPG).
    • Kentucky made just four triples last Saturday, the fifth opponent in the last six games Mizzou has held to five or fewer treys. Tennessee's 11 on Tuesday marked the most triples the Tigers have allowed this season.
    • Mizzou is 7-1 when opponents have made six or fewer triples this season. The Tigers are one of just 15 teams nationally to hold five different opponents to three or fewer treys in a game this season.
    • On Dec. 30, Chicago State was the eighth team Mizzou has held to 56 or fewer points this season through 14 games. That is already the most opponents the Tigers have held to 56 or less in an entire season during this decade and the most in a campaign since 1998-99 (nine teams). Mizzou is 8-0 when holding teams to 59 or fewer points this season.
    • Mizzou is allowing only 18.9 field goal makes per game, which ranks third nationally, trailing only Liberty and defending national champion Virginia. Kentucky's 20 made field goals last Saturday matched its fewest in a game since the season-opener vs. Michigan State.
    • Mizzou's depth continues to be a strength. In the win over Illinois, Mizzou's bench outscored the Illini, 31-10, then the Tigers' reserves outpaced Chicago State's bench, 53-8. The Tigers are +94 in bench points in the last six games and +147 overall this season. Mizzou has outscored 12 of its 14 opponents in bench production this season. The Tigers' bench outscored Tennessee, 24-11, on Tuesday. At least nine different Tigers have scored in each of the last three games.
    TEAM EFFORT ON THE GLASS
    • Mizzou has made attacking the glass a team effort on the season, with four players averaging more than four rebounds per game. Mizzou has three guards with at least 57 boards this season in Mark Smith, Dru Smith and Javon Pickett. The only other SEC team with three guards with that many rebounds is Arkansas.
    • Mark Smith leads the Tigers with 4.7 rebounds per game, followed by Dru Smith (4.4), Jeremiah Tilmon, Jr. (4.3) and Javon Pickett (4.1). Six different players have led Mizzou in rebounding this season.
    • Mark Smith has corralled at least three boards in all 14 games this season.
    • The Tigers are 7-2 on the season when they outrebound their opponents. They've done so 53 times in 79 games during the Martin era.

Florida looking to stay hot in icy Missouri
    Gvl Sun Graham Hall
Coming off an 81-68 win Tuesday at South Carolina, the Florida men’s basketball team is looking to stay hot in spite of the cold.

When the Gators take the court at 8:30 p.m. in Columbia, Missouri, for a match-up with the Tigers (8-6, 0-2 SEC), there’s no telling how many will be in attendance considering the weekend’s weather forecast.
The state is preparing for Winter Storm Isaiah, which is expected to bring snow and ice throughout the midwest Saturday and possibly into Sunday.

With the most severe weather predicted for just after tip-off, the conditions will affect Florida’s travel plans, too — a minor inconvenience that Gators coach Mike White pointed out is just another aspect of conference play.
“We’re going to stay there for two nights, as opposed to potentially sitting on a plane for a long time and de-icing, and this and that, and hardly getting any sleep because we’ve got another really quick turnaround in the next one,” White said. “We’re going to play the game, go back to the hotel, try to get as much sleep as possible, fly back here that following day — what day would that be? Sunday? — come right to the gym and practice. It’s the grind of the SEC season.”

Nembhard on Point, Blocking out 'Noise'
Chris Harry / UF Senior Writer
Since returning from the holiday break, Florida sophomore Andrew Nembhard has played a both steadying and spectacular brand of point guard in averaging 16.3 points, 9.0 assists and leading the Gators to three straight wins. On Saturday, he'll leadCOLUMBIA, Mo. — As he made his way off the Colonial Arena floor and toward the visitors' locker room Tuesday night, Andrew Nembhard was stopped by Jimmy Dykes, the ESPN color analyst who had just called Florida's 81-68 road defeat of South Carolina. Nembhard, the Gators' sophomore playmaker, was magnificent in victory, scoring 21 points and dishing 10 assists en route to the first double-double of his career.

Dykes, who three nights earlier was on the mic in Gainesville when Nembhard went for a career-high 25 points to lead UF's stirring comeback and double-overtime win over Alabama, put his arm around the Gators star and heaped a handful of praise in Nembhard's direction.

"Keep it up, man," Dykes gushed. "You're playing like the best point guard in the country, right now."
Nembhard politely thanked him and went on his way. His assistant coaches, in earshot of the exchange, were ready to dish some quick cautionary advice, but Nembhard, making like a seasoned collegian off the floor, stopped them short. He's learned a thing or two about blocking out "the noise."
"I don't even listen to that stuff anymore," Nembhard told them. "Next week, someone will be killing me. I don't care. I'm just gonna play."

Yeah, that'll work. them into Missouri, where UF will try to go 3-0 in SEC play. "The noise," after all, will always be there. And always mean nothing.

    From the Kansas City Star
    About Florida (10-4, 2-0 SEC):
The Gators struggled out of the gate, going from preseason No. 6 to unranked. They took care of business to open SEC play, defeating Alabama and South Carolina. The obvious inside presence is 6-foot-10 forward Kerry Blackshear Jr., who graduate transferred from Virginia Tech. Florida’s been an inconsistent team at times, including in losses to Utah State and Connecticut. KenPom ranks the Gators at No. 23.
About Missouri (8-6, 0-2 SEC): The Tigers dropped their first two games of SEC play to Kentucky and Tennessee. It was a tough start for Mizzou as its NCAA Tournament hopes now hang in the balance. Forward Jeremiah Tilmon is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his left foot, a significant blow to Mizzou coach Cuonzo Martin’s team. The Tigers aren’t panicking, but they need to start finishing games to pick up some wins. KenPom has Mizzou at 55th.
Prediction: It’s another tough game for Mizzou, one that’s magnified without Tilmon’s presence on the floor. Florida’s a talented team and guarding Blackshear becomes even more difficult now. Mizzou needs Mark Smith to get going after back-to-back games scoring seven points to open SEC play. It’s a chance at a Quadrant 1 win for the Tigers and they could really use it. But we’ll say the Tigers drop their third straight against a talented Florida team. But if the defense can bounce back after getting gashed by Tennessee, Mizzou has a chance to pull off an upset.

I think Andrew and Noah have big games tonite.
The conventional wisdom suggests Kerry, but I think Missouri will rim protect.
I see Andrew posting 6’3 Dru Smith, who has a very hard time defending without fouling. And Noah will get loose off help.
