THE FIRST PITCH• The Gators will travel to Tempe, Ariz. to gear up for the Littlewood Classic hosted by Arizona St. and will face Illinois State, San Diego, Utah State and Central Michigan while there.
• The Gators recently moved up to No. 4 in both national polls after the program had a successful opening weekend at the USF Opening Weekend Invitiational in Tampa. UF went 5-0 on the weekend and was the only Top 25 program in the country to pick up two Top 25 wins over No. 19/14 Michigan, 6-0, and No. 7/6 Arizona, 3-2. UF entered the 2019 season ranked inside the top five of the USA Today/NFCA Coaches' Poll & ESPN.com/USA Softball for the sixth consecutive season.

• Head Coach Tim Walton boasts the nations highest winning percentage (.799) among active NCAA DI softball head coaches and picked up a pair of wins over two legends in the game - Carol Hutchins (Michigan) and Mike Candrea (Arizona). Hutchins and Candrea are the two winningest coaches with a combined 3,000+ wins over their careers. However, Walton holds a 17-2 record over the duo all-time.

• For the sixth consecutive season the Gators were picked by the league's head coaches to win the SEC title. The league office announced the poll results Tuesday, Jan. 15. The team picked up 10 of the 13 available first place votes for a total of 142 points.• Last season the Gators had three student-athletes named NFCA All-Americans in Kelly Barnhill, Amanda Lorenz and Nicole DeWitt. Both Barnhill and Lorenz return for their senior campaigns and the Gators added a third All-American to the roster this fall in Minnesota transfer Kendyl Lindaman.

• Barnhill, Lorenz and Lindaman landed on the Top 50 "Watch List" for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award. In 2017, Barnhill became only the second sophomore ever (Cat Osterman, 2003) and second Gator (Lauren Haeger, 2015) ever to win the coveted award. Barnhill and Lorenz finished their 2018 campaign as Top 4 finalists for the award, while Lindaman was on the Top 50 "Watch List".

• The UF roster includes eight incoming freshmen, including one early enrollee, and two transfer juniors - Jade Caraway (JR - OF - N.C.
