Missed the first half and watched the second in a restaurant with no volume...(My son is a varsity HS player and had a game).

My biggest takeaway is a one point loss at Cameron to the #4 team is something that makes us better later on and certainly no big deal. A win would have looked great, but we know we can still play with anyone, anywhere.

Just watched TFG presser. Found a few things interesting.

Clearly upset at the officiating. "Gotta come in and here and win by 10 in order to win"

Said he didn't remember what happened on that go ahead 3 by Duke. I do not believe that for a minute. He remembers ever.y.thing. Was he avoiding calling out a player? A substitution?

Rightly credited the team effort, defense, and specifically Chins second half D.

Got really annoyed with a question about consistency and pretty much ended the presser there.

It was nothing crazy but he seemed a bit more agitated, angry, something at that presser thanbhis usual self.

The game is not the venue to work out your shooting funk; it’s practice and shooting various shots all night long if you have to. That’s how players learn to shoot free throws.
One of Lee’s long 3 pt attempts barely hit iron. We can’t afford for Lee and Condon to work on their shooting in games. When they demonstrate an improvement/proficiency in practice to suit Golden, let it fly in games.

We'll just have to disagree. He's not shooting bricks in practice.

Fair point Exile; we’ll see what happens. I hope the best for Lee and his role on our team. He shoots FT’s ok so he can do it! We need him on our journey this season.

He was more than agitated, he was pissed. Some of the calls against us... jeez. There were the big, glaring ones, but there were many more of the little ones, the uncalled maulings in the lane. If this had been called appropriately, half the Duke squad would have fouled out.

I get that Duke gets a friendly whistle at home. But I am amazed that it is still at the level that they got with Coach K.

I am somewhere between you and Exile’s opinions. Yes, Lee should take shots during the game. He makes them in practice and he made them his other years in college. But if he isn’t making them he doesn’t need to take as many as he does. That is where he is hurting the team. Per 40 minutes played stats, he is shooting almost just as many 3’s as Urban. Urban takes 10.9 3’s per 40 minutes played and Lee takes 10.4 3’s. That is crazy high for someone making 21% of them.

For reference, here are the number of 3’s per 40 minutes and their percentages:
    Urban - 10.9 - 37%
    Lee - 10.4 - 21%
    Haugh - 6.3 - 32%
    Boogie - 6.6 - 25%
    Lloyd - 10.7 - 25%
    Brown - 5.6 - 30%
    Ingram - 7.5 - 33%
    Condon - 2.8 - 13%

Good analysis. At this point, if Lee gets decent playing time, he should not force shots. Handle and distribute the ball and take open shots when they occur. If he increases his %, perhaps his confidence will increase.
Your data also suggest Condon should not take 3’s at this point but he does not take a high %. Obviously, Handy should limit his shots unless point blank range. It is what it is now. Hopefully, we can see other players shoot better off the bench.

Practice your shot till you can get defended at full speed and swish it. It is not happening most games and it is hurting the team getting better.
One of our superstars plays for Miss St and he is still shooting a lot of bricks.

The blown goal tendining basket in the first half by the refs that went against us that would've given us 2 points was the difference. Even the announcers were stunned it wasn't called. It should've been 68-67.

Does this loss still really bother you guys? It still stings. Not many chances to beat Duke at Cameron and we were so close. Would love another crack at them in the tourney if we cross paths again

I thought it was a defensive foul because the defender jumped into haugh, not straight up. I agree the video didn't help, but as it's been mentioned, what is he supposed to do with his off arm?

Lee is becoming a real perplexing problem for Golden. Lee has always been a volume shooter who creates mostly for himself and needs those opportunities to get going. But his shooting—and confidence—is seemingly getting worse.

What do you do as a coach? Lee still takes care of the ball, creates for his teammates, rebounds his position, hits his FTs, and his defense has not been as bad as I expected, frankly. But a volume shooter in a slump is the worst place to be, because you either keep taking shots and take shots away from teammates, or you stop shooting and can’t possibly get it back.

If you play Klavzar more, you have even worse defense, plus worse rebounding and passing. If you go to the freshmen or Zay Brown, you are just guessing and rolling the dice. If Lee were even hitting 30-33%, he would be a 13+ pt guy and one of our offensive keys. But he isn’t in that ballpark right now.

Lee has been solid with the exception of his shot. But his shot is all that most folks are talking about. It looks to me like he is rushing it. And thinking about it instead of letting it fly.

We will have a stretch of games against weaker teams after the UConn game. George Washington is not a gimme but St Francis, Colgate and Dartmouth we should dominate easily. I would have Lee work on driving the ball to either finish strong, get fouled or create for a teammate in those games. If he gets that part of his game going he should be not rushed on his outside shots as his defenders will have to respect that part of his game and give him some space.

But I am not paid millions to coach these guys so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Well, Duke beat MSU on the road, 66-60. MSU's first loss.
Duke outrebounded a good rebounding team by 1. We outrebounded Duke by 11.
If we start making shots we could be devastating.

Agreed. Duke has shown they are a legit team. That was a good win at Michigan state. I'd have them ranked number 1 based on what they've done.
