I freaking hate duke so much and I am happy I chose not to travel to this game because I probably would have gotten arrested

Hopefully the last 3 nonconference games will be an opportunity for Todd to work the young guards in more and develop some trust. We have to get the bench involved, playing 7 just isn't sustainable

I think Todd felt Boogie was in such a groove he didn't want to call the timeout

A little disappointed Todd left Urban in there and didn't go full defense knowing we could call a timeout once we got a rebound. Then to not call a timeout when they were clearly struggling to set up a play was baffling. We don't have 3 senior guards like last year. Gotta give these guys a little help and set up a play.

What has been going on with Ingram? He hasn’t got a single minute for weeks.

I think we can all agree we played much better than expected. A lot of people were saying Duke would easily cover the spread. I'm not going to hate on Boogie or anyone on the team with a one point loss to Duke. Some players aren't playing well, I agree. But coming up with negative nicknames for players is beyond me. Criticism is okay, but also understand these guys are playing their asses off.

Everyone have a good night. Go Gators!

Agreed. You don’t call a timeout and let them set their defense if it’s frantic and fast moving, but Duke had their defense back and set. Go ahead and call timeout, settle everyone down, and draw up your best play.

Lots of places to improve. This could be Fland's springboard. We desperately need him to take control of the team. I think him and Zay could be dynamite together and they need to be on the floor together as much as possible moving forward.

I think Alex Lloyd and others need a look.
Florida needs to give more players on the bench a chance to contribute: i.e Alex Lloyd who is supposed to be a great outside shooter, Isaiah Brown & CJ Ingram might be another good defensive guard.

We all see it, wonder if some of these NIL deals require certain amount of pt? I hope not, but I’d love to see some of the more young athletic guards in the game.

I went back to look at the 3pt awarded to Duke at 6 to 6 in the first half. The whistle did blow before he released the shot....they should not have counted that 3. I checked the rule to make sure....., the basket does not count if the foul occurred away from the ball and the whistle blew before the shot was released. The whistle stops the play, and since the foul was not a shooting foul, the shot is nullified. The ball is awarded to the non-offending team to inbound the ball out of bounds.

That is 5 gifted points to Duke by the officials

Send it before, but I will say it again, Tommy is clearly our best player. You can see when we play great teams. There is only one guy that consistently score

here’s the problem… Tommy created many of his own opportunities, and we don’t seem to understand that he is your best player and we need to get him the ball and provide him more opportunities.
that itself present a big problem because it was clear we did not have anything set for him in the last possession

I knew it was trouble when 7 was still on the court coming out of the timeout before Duke’s last possession. I don’t understand the logic to keep in such a small guy on the floor. Terrible defensive decision to double boozer and leave a three point shooter wide open. Absolutely mental breakdown. Goal #1 of that situations don’t give up a three pointer.

the refs hosed us, but we lost that game based on that bad defensive decision.

I was encouraged with Condon play. He has a tendency to wilt in that kind of environment against Biggs like that and I thought he actually played aggressively.

That was what I was arguing about before - play an easier schedule BEFORE playing teams like Arizona, etc. Many teams ranked high now like Vanderbilt, LSU have played a very soft schedule but are ranked pretty high now.

TCU was an unexpected loss (but the hornfrogs lost only by 4 points to a hot Michigan team which is #1 in kenpom).

As for this Duke game, Florida played well but out backcourt (besides Fland) struggled again in this game - Klavzar missed a lot of open looks in the 1st half and was a non-factor in the 2nd half.

    ====================
I just checked the kenpom after Florida dropped to 5-3. The Gators have actually went up 3 spots from 16 to 13 from losing on the road by one point to DUke U., lol!
