    Yawn, here we go again!
It's almost June, and that means it's time for that annual best-of-7 game series between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers - otherwise known as the NBA Finals - a series that has come to serve as the official closing ceremony of an apparently meaningless NBA season.

Okay. Enough with the whining and complaining! Truth is, there are plenty of reasons we can and should be excited to watch this series - yes even though it's mildly redundant, and even though it's the 4th time around.

Fact - this series will feature the best player in basketball (outmatched, which is arguably when he's at his best) versus the best team in basketball. And if that concept still doesn't appeal to you, check this article (Stop complaining and enjoy another Cavaliers-Warriors Finals) for a little more, kick-in-the-hoops-fan-pants style encouragement. ;)

ESPN.com recounts for us all "The moments when Cavaliers-Warriors IV seemed inevitable ... and when it didn't," and gives us a whole lotta Rachel Nichols (NTTAWWT, of course)
The speculation about a fourth NBA Finals meeting between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors began mere seconds after JR Smith made a relatively meaningless 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the Cavs' Game 5 loss a year ago (relatively, because it did give LeBron James the final assist he needed to average a triple-double for the series).

The confetti hadn't even begun to fall in Oakland, California, when the questions began: Would anyone be able to stop these teams from meeting again? What could possibly derail two of the most unstoppable freight trains in their respective conferences in NBA history? Why even bother playing the 2017-18 season? Why not just skip to May 31, 2018, for the start of another inevitable Cavaliers-Warriors Finals?
To be fair, last postseason gave critics little reason to believe that this year would be any different. Entering last year's Finals, the Warriors were a perfect 12-0 in the postseason and the Cavaliers were 12-1, leading many to believe their conference dominance would go unchecked for another season. Even after a wild offseason that saw the Cavaliers part ways with general manager David Griffin and star point guard Kyrie Irving and saw Kevin Durant re-up with the Warriors at a significant discount, both teams were considered the favorites to return to the Finals at the end of what some feared would be a "boring" season.

While the end result -- a fourth consecutive NBA Finals pitting the Cavaliers against the Warriors -- came to pass as expected, the journey there was anything but boring...Read full article here.

    Injury & Player Status Updates:
As of Wednesday 05/30 at 1600, Cleveland's Kevin Love is still in concussion protocol and his status for Game#1 is still questionable (no updates since yesterday, 05/20/2018). The Warriors announced earlier today that PF/C Andre Iguodala is out for Game#1 due to knee contusion suffered in WCF v. Houston. (insert sad Harnett face here :()

Mike Greenberg just called it the greatest rivalry in sports. That rivalry is about to implode with contracts coming up in all likelihood. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given he went to Northwestern.

Well, I'm glad to apparently not be the only wet blanket here. Was on a flight to Tokyo during game 7 of the west. Arrived in Taiwan before finding out we get this matchup again. Like others, I say . . . :emoji_zzz::emoji_zzz::emoji_zzz:

ESPN/ABC trying way too hard to hype this thing. What an insult to Army and Navy.

Not all that surprising Love missed that first shot from long distance. He's neither alert nor oriented to time, place or year.

I would like to go on record right now and say I am 100% not a fan of JR Smith!!!

PS: Sorry, not buying the whole "slipped" line, not after what he did to Al.

After watching the replay I may have been wrong - just based on Smith's reaction to Klay Thompson immediately after the collision. Obviously, I'm still not over that flagrant foul on Al in the Eastern Conference Finals.... :(

Houston would be up double digits on GS right now. Cleveland's A-game isn't even good enough against the Warriors C-game. And I can't believe I'm watching.

Game#1 from Oakland, end of the 1st Quarter, Cleveland leads the GSWs 30-29 with Klay Thompson trying to return after that early collision with JR Smith.
