I agree no one knows. Just as no one knows if kiffin will succeed at LSU. My issue with the comparison is that it's used to portray sumrall as the same guy as our previous coach

There are similarities. I do like this guy's communication skills better and that's an important part of the job.

The most worrisome similarity is their propensity to play close games. Other than that I dont see any real concerning similarities. Spurrier said he would win right away. Cignetti said the same in the most confrontational and bombastic way and followed through on it. Anyone can say it sure but it does require some confidence and just as importantly an acceptance to meet standards you brought on yourself. Total opposite of what Napier did when he prefaced his tenure with "gimme time."

Sure there have been several coaches to proclaim their success prematurely but nuance matters and even though its an opinion, I think Sumrall comes off as genuine, confident, open minded and unflinching but also having a plan. Zook meant well and wanted to give 110% to the point he said he would even "sleep fast" but he seemed frantic and disheveled. Sumrall "seems" to be more rounded than any of our past severall hires. Time will tell.

One thing that is impressive about getting multiple championships at a lower level now and in the past 3 years is how cherry picked those teams are of their top players, meaning the team is ground zero every year. The need to change schemes and adapt a new qb every year to a system is impressive and hopefully transferable to a higher level.

Yes. He said that. He also said we would probably hate him the first few years. He was completely right on that point.

Because for many of us, our hopium stash ran out well over a decade ago. Words are words. I will support Sumrall 100% and not blame him personally when the concession stands run out of ice like many here do, but in the final analysis, I want to see results.

Sumrall does have an advantage Zook and Muschamp never had. He is following a bad act. In any profession, when one knows they are replacing someone who got fired, or was universally considered poor, just righting the ship will get great support. if you do well, you are lionized.

The four win teams to be taken seriously are those that have:
    • I do not know of any.
To make things worst UF in the past 15 season has a total of 8 seasons with 8 or more wins. Also UF's last SEC Championship was in 2008.

For UF to be taken seriously again, UF will need to establish three or more winning seasons in a row, beat the in state schools, win bowl games, and be contenders for the SEC Championship game.

Yes, we are starting from ground zero.

Napier seemed to work in series when it came to the portal... one at a time. I like the parallel approach to portal recruiting... the staff and head coach get as many of the best available, for certain positions of need, at the same time... all while working on big talent recruits.

If we plan to compete near the top, the portal has to be huge. They're better players than most of the recruits. I don't like it but I don't see any alternative if we want to be top level.

Tragic, but true. It seems like every advantage Florida had for recruits to come here simply disappeared.

    * Academics: Who cares, when you can potentially make millions? Who would even bother to go to class? Even if they did so, simply hire the smart kids to take their exams and write their papers.
    * Flagship: Who cares? If a billionaire or two decides to support UCF or USF, they will run the table themselves.
    * Prime recruiting ground: A factor once a team reaches the elite level, but top recruits want to start, and if they don't, they're in the Portal.
    * History/Tradition: Please. The top players are now looking at riches. The players are too young to remember Tom Petty...

Either we have the huge $$$$$ or we will be like everyone else. Adapt or perish, and the direction of the adaption makes me want to hurl...

I always get a chuckle out of this point of view. Words are words - posted on a message board. What results have you not seen yet from Sumrall? And if we are waiting for a final analysis, what's this discussion really about!

    Interesting.

Tell me how their offensive and special teams coordinators compare?
