Oh I see, they’re the “top” shots…that makes more sense…and understandable why the game has trended towards 3s and easy 2s. Far, far more “pacing and spacing” in today’s game. Passing, cutting, trying to get open looks versus the old NBA game of iso and pound it into the paint. The “close-out” on 3s didn’t even exist in the 80s and 90s. They would almost dare players to shoot 3s, now even 5s have to be able to sprint out to the 3-pt line and defend, hence the bigger emphasis on all-around play and agility vs bigger players able to dominate the paint. I actually prefer today’s NBA; far more passing, better shooting and high-octane offenses. It’s very, very difficult to defend players and a ball that are in constant motion. Just watch Steph Curry on any given play, he never stops moving. Smart basketball, which is why no one plays that old style anymore.
