    Other than
The silliness of this article reflects on the silliness of the lock down.

    Yes.

They are an island country. That helps...a lot. The prevailing sentiment there by the government is "if we save just one life". This is silly. Following that line of thinking lock downs should remain in place indefinitely. The fact that it's come to having fried chicken means arrest or $4,000 fines is ridiculous.

Interesting. I thought that it was Sweden? Funny how Covid changed things. ;)

Hmmm. Color me skeptical. Rumor is that when answering questions the "police" that stopped the spread of KFC closed each response with "my pleasure."

Does it help a lot? How much spread are we getting from the land border? Did it initially come across the land border or did we get it from plane flights from places that don't have a land border with us?

BTW, they are actually pulling back the lockdowns in Auckland and they aren't in lockdown in the rest of the country. They have actually spent most of the pandemic with less restrictions internally than we have had. The advantage of taking it seriously initially.

I'm thinking the $100K in cash they had on them might have had something to do with their arrest. Seems like the food was cover for something else.

I’m guessing it’ a bag that holds an ounce of weed.

My suspicion, as well, but we say baggie, or used to when I was younger. ‘I’m so much older than that now.’

Don't think geography alone explains that the rate of Covid deaths/million in New Zealand is 5 while the rate for the US is 2,085 or that the case rate per million is 819 for NZ compared with a rate of 129,383 for the US. Again, I do think they're a little over the top but considering the alternative of not taking the pandemic seriously I would opt for their excesses compared with the way we are handling it. By way, we would be much better off and wouldn't need to even consider extreme restrictions if Americans had enough common sense to take advantage of safe, effective and readily available vaccines.

A better example is to not allow cigarettes in a drought stricken tender box area. Once a fire starts it is hard to stop, so you may actually have more freedom by never having it start in the first place. The US strategy is to let everything burn to the ground, with some people putting on fire retardent clothing and others dousing themselves in gasoline.
