    You have to move to your next option for sure. Make your top options work at all costs though. Don't be a cheap ass and take the easy way out

    Hiring our own OC/DC that doesn't have to kiss the HCs ring sounds like a good idea.

    I seriously doubt he would leave Oregon for Florida. He's got beyond everything now.

    Buuu…….t, you have to explore. He would be the guy IMO, to work a strong ass offer and lock in for 10 years.

    Im with the idea i dont care where the coach comes from. I don't care about his power5 experience. Gimme a guy that wants to play fast. That wants to score points. That will be aggressive on both sides of the ball. I dont care if its urban, lane or some unknown like will stein or glenn schumann.

    I disagree on the GM. I dont mind having one, but i dont think a neutered head coach is the answer. I read here that SS got lucky with golden because he didn't interview him. Well lets follow that path. Get SOS urban and a couple buddies like stoops and day together and have them pick our next target

    I would not characterize it as neutered. More like very defined parallel roles with both answering to the athletic department. Let the HC focus on coaching football. Let the GM focus on running the organization. In the league the GM is not hired by and work under the HC in most cases. It’s actually typically the other way around. I’m not advocating for that. A big part of the problem at
    UF is the same guy is trying to do both, and the actual football part is suffering. If UF had a real GM, they don’t currently, he could be a strong voice and play a pivotal role in hiring the next HC. Not be the guy who ultimately decides that though. Stricklin needs all the help he can get. My fear is he and his minions will again select another Florida football coach.

    Florida doesn't need a GM. We simply need an OC.

    UF has both on staff… just as there is a special teams coach, and a guy that counts the number of players on the field before each snap

    We are honestly one great OC away from being in the playoffs...sadly we are also one head coach who is capable of seeing that away from being in the playoffs.

    :eek::eek:

    That is scary as heck! What if someone lacks motivation? It sounds awesome but dern… that could lead to having multiple people on the payroll that couldn’t care less. Pay me $10 mil a year guaranteed for 10 years and I would be in Savannah on Saturday game day for 8 years if the noise was too loud.

    Point is, hell nah. What is the incentive? Pay to suck for 10 years? Been doing that. Fire someone 4 yrs in… how could you hire anyone else? 10 yr contract would have to have a lot of outs and I doubt an agent or coach would accept. Jmo.

    USF beat a 5-0 North Texas 63-28. If we cannot get Kiffin I think Golesh might be a good choice because his fast paced offense would at least be fun to watch.

    I’ll rephrase. Make it attractive enough to where we get him 10+ years. I’m tired of us not going after guys because we think they’ll say no. If he is the guy you want, go get him.

    Does any team do this well? How do you set up the pay structure? Who do you trust to hire a GM? How is the GM evaluated?
