Saban cut him loose when he went to FAU not OM. There is no way that he takes another job, or at least that it is announced, during a possible championship run. No way! If he goes on a run, there might not be much of a roster here.

 

Saban like control without a high caliber staff or the personal awareness to hire smart folks and let them work, while demanding excellence from everyone

 

He just might win one this year, not because they are super elite but because all the big boys are questionable at best at qb.

My prediction is that Lane Kiffin walks away from this season as the highest paid coach in college football one of four ways:

Ole Miss: Extension/raise.
Auburn: Fans are done with Freeze.
LSU: Kelly can’t win big games.
Florida: Discussed here ad nauseum.

If a three or four way bidding war takes place, LK signs a historic deal with SOMEBODY.

 

You mean just ugly on the message board? I definitely agree with that. I don’t know if I can agree that he already has his mind up. I don’t believe he would come, but never isn’t a word I’d use.

 

It’s funny, being a great coordinator seemed to be last on all our lists after we fired Muschamp. It seems like we keep going for the opposite of the last guy:

Muschamp fails and gets replaced by an offensive minded head coach from a small program.

Mac fails and gets replaced by a coach with great experience in the SEC.

Mullen fails and gets replaced by a guy known for systematically planning and long term stability.

Now we are all pining for an erratic crap-talker who has had more 1-2 year coaching stints than AR has had injuries.

 

Lane lives a charmed life and seems to have exceptional timing. He has landed incredible job after incredible job, but when you look at his resume he has never won anything anywhere, as a head coach, at the NFL or Collegiate level (hardware / ring) unless one wants to count Florida Atlantic, which, I don't.

 

After Billy was announced I purposefully watched the Sunbelt Championship game to get a feel for what to expect, I wasn't excited with what I saw, but I was optimistic....should have went with my first initial feelings

 

Muschamp and Mullen were elite coordinators. Lanning might have been, but he also might have just been doing what Kirby told him. Agree on the rest

Ole Miss will likely match any $$$$ offer he gets, other than LSU.

Auburn tried to get him 2yrs ago and he declined. Don’t think they will be able to do it this cycle either. They hire like Florida does.

A couple more losses and LSU will be done with Brian Kelly. They’ll make a go away deal with him that he won’t refuse. He looks tired of doing this anyway, it’s time. If they get into the market during this cycle they will swamp all other whaling boats. They will throw crazy $$$$ at whoever they want, and get him.

Florida won’t get into a bidding war for anyone. Get ready to Drink..
