Stadium has been topped out!
I believe that there should be more shade for the fans, disappointed
Appears to duplicate South Carolina stadium’s Shade.
In the late afternoon, I think most of the stands will be in shade.
The bulk of seats will be in the shade...not sure what you want.
And as I have always said , spent a lot more time being cold and trying to warm up than vice versa during many seasons at the Mac
This is true for the die hard baseball fan. @WESGATORS has worked out game time temps a few times before and the number of games which are uncomfortably hot is limited.
That said, SEC games plus postseason (the single SWAC home game but that is in March nearly every year) are the primary games that people see on TV and that should draw the largest non-student crowds which are the ones which need shade. So while 25-30 of 40 home games or more don’t need shade, the “key” games do.
And I will add that while I don’t mind sitting in 90 degree sun and watching a baseball game (with beer of course...), my wife who attends with me is less keen. If she is comfortable, I can go to more games!
I can buy that reasoning!!
Yeah, I don't think shade will be much of an issue. That said, I have wondered what the cost difference would have been to extend the permanent roof structure just a little further down to cover the last couple of sections. Would have preferred that over the blue shade awnings they show in the renderings, but that is really more of aesthetics thing for me.
Take a look at the earthcam view of the new stadium (link in the first post in this thread). Most of the crap has been moved from both the infield and the outfield.
Is it just me, or does the seating area look a bit flat?
Hopefully it's just a perspective thing. Maybe it will look better when the seats are installed. But I'd much rather have more of a wall of seats than a bit of a plain. This is one of those things that you wonder where they pull the design strategy from, is it strictly a cost thing (don't build the stadium too tall), or what factors go into a more flat design in terms of how it benefits the fans (further back from the field, but lower).
Also, the protection from sun looks dubious from this perspective. It's one thing to get that picture in November, but what's this going to look like in April?
This image looks like it was shot in a panoramic mode or as it was processed was stretched to fit the size. If either it would tend to make this look flat or have a lack of height. It would be strange if unaltered because BHG and the O'Dome are steep so why would me make baseball any different?
Probably flatter than the Mac. Probably “exactly” like TD Ameritrade in Omaha.
Not sure all seats were intended to be shaded at all times. Right?
Are they trying to fast track the stadium construction to possibly open the baseball season in the new stadium? Since they have cleared the playing area of most of the construction vehicles already and seem to be leveling the dirt it seems like they aren’t too far away from beginning to lay sod. If they were somehow able to do that then they could begin demo work on the current stadium and start construction earlier on the football complex. I’m just curious if Stricklin might be pushing for this even though it’s not advertised to be complete until after the baseball season next year.
They are nowhere close to being finished. Many many months left on that project. Buildout of player areas and coaches offices and concessions etc etc etc.
Are they going to have luxury suites or any special seating. I am sure I could find out but just being lazy.
No. UAA rep was recently at Dugout Club meeting. Stadium is on track for June or July finish. Football will be standing there with wrecking ball as soon as last game is played at the Mac in June. Coaches will move into new stadium offices. Summer camps will be held here. Season ticket holders will get to tour over the summer and seating choices will be made next Oct/Nov.
Only for Gatorgal04.....
What’s the next milestone event for the new stadium on the schedule?
Press box completion?
Sodding/sprigging in April?
Anyone know the timeline?
You forgot one....Specialized Behind the Scenes tour for @gatorbogey, @Matherly87, @gatorjjh, @swampgas44 and @Gatorgal04.
I'm sure Sully won't mind spending a little of his time. (sarcasm)
Any other takers???
