Really good observations @62gator. How much Rocker’s draft number holds or falls will be whatever the business of baseball says on draft day.

Does he have enough talent to compete in professional baseball? I would think so. Is he looking at tough stretches and or bumps in the road in front of him? Everyone that plays faces those. I do not think he will dominate in the manner he’s accustomed to. IMHO he has what is in today’s professional game is an average FB. He has a +slider but advanced hitters are not going to chase it like he is used to.

To me Vandy was just another team out there before I heard a few too many stories of their players abusing our players.

Odd, since our coach and theirs are good friends.

That 9-0 performance knocking Rocker out of the game was impressive.

Another poster implied MSU won the CWS in 2007 and I said it was the real FSU.

Yep, I know, it's a long-running joke that everybody has some fun with--ya know, like nobody could've gone to the CWS 23 times without winning at least one (loving to poke fun at "11") :D;):D and usually then it's off and running.

I've watched him 4 or 5 times this season, once in person and have just not been that impressed, especially with his FB. It never seems to dominate as advertised. Of course I'm far from qualified to evaluate his future. I will defer to 74 and others who are far more qualified.

A friend of mine from grad school days was a very good ball player (borderline MLB talent as a catcher) went to Sandia Labs, then Los Alamos, and finally ended up at MSU. My wife and I called him up last night after the game. We did talk about how did they not win it with Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro way back in the day.

This has to be frustrating for FSU as they have had a great program for decades but never won the CWS and they just saw MSU become the 7th SEC team to win a CWS - MSU, Missouri, UF, Vandy, Georgia, LSU, and South Carolina and they are no longer the best team in their conference.

    Agree, but ok by me.
I actually think it would be far more frustrating watching a team like Coastal Carolina win a NC in their one and only trip to Omaha.

Missouri doesn’t count as they weren’t an SEC team when they won. Just like Miami’s titles don’t count for the ACC.

For the SWAC, I would think you have to wonder what Meat will do that his dad didn’t do. So far, Meat’s recruitment of pitchers vastly exceeds 11 but it didn’t matter this year. Will be interesting to watch.

That is why the women get a total of 12 scholarships and the men get 11.7.
