The last thing I typed on AU board last night,,,anywhere but Atl Im good with...

Thought sure with UNC/GT left open(last 2) and AU/Vols left,, Vols would go to the #3 seed... guess 4-0 H2H meant squat.

I wont argue AU as one of worst 2s per this seeding, guess I can buy that... but I will argue Vols as one of better 2s going to #14.

Im sure most AU fans love it(most were begging for it) b/c of travel. Just not exciting to me, AUs played there countless times, reg. & post season. I doubt GT is thrilled w/ closest available fan base being sent there either.

Should be able to save Burns for them. Owen should be able to handle the "Champs" I mean Chants. Or other way around, not even sure who the #1 is anymore. Owen will actually get the heaviest LH line up most likely.

In Florida : avoid the late afternoon thunderstorms.

Is that the weather pattern elsewhere? No longer getting the fronts?

No. 2 seed FAU will open tourney play vs. ’Noles on Friday at Athens Regional

By David Furones South Florida Sun Sentinel
BOCA RATON — The Florida Atlantic baseball team is headed to Athens, Ga., for the NCAA tournament regionals.

FAU is the No. 2 regional seed. Along with host and No. 1 seed Georgia, which is the No. 4 overall seed, the Owls will be with No. 3 Florida State, which FAU will face first at noon on Friday in the double-elimination regional, and No. 4 Mercer.

The Owls (40-19, 25-9) learned their tournament fate at a watch party for the ESPNU selection show on Monday afternoon at a club suite at FAU Stadium.
“[My] first reaction was University of Georgia, neat place, they’ve got a really good team,” said FAU coach John McCormack, who was presented with a cake to commemorate his 400 career victories at the watch party. “And then the second reaction was Florida State, which is, in the coaching profession, to be able to get on the field against Mike Martin is going to be amazing.”

In Martin’s final season, FSU earns 42nd straight NCAA bid

    By Chaunte’l Powell Sentinel
TALLAHASSEE — The wait is over for Mike Martin and the Florida State baseball team, with the Seminoles learning they did just enough to make the NCAA Tournament for the 42nd consecutive season.
The team gathered Monday and learned they will head to Athens, Ga., to take on FAU in their opener on Friday.

For Martin, a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders knowing that he has one last shot at making it to Omaha for the College World Series before he retires.
He is the NCAA baseball all-time winningest coach with 2,023 career victories and has never missed the NCAA Tournament during his 40 seasons leading the Seminoles, but he’s never won a national title and wasn’t ready to walk away from the sport without one more postseason run.

“I couldn’t sleep worth a darn last night and I usually can sleep through a hurricane,” Martin said after the selection show. “I just was thinking about were there teams that we missed not playing in the league — which we had nothing to do with us, that’s done by a computer — and is that going to be used against us? We never said we don’t want to play this particular person or this particular person. We’ll line up and play. And I was of course thinking that was an important game we played against NC State.”

    A return to splendor?
Bubble-heads no more, ’Canes to open NCAA tourney on road

    By Christy Cabrera Chirinos Sentinel
In each of the last two years, the Miami Hurricanes had somberly gathered in their clubhouse at Mark Light Field on Selection Monday to learn their NCAA Tournament fate.
And both times, the Hurricanes — one of college baseball’s traditional powerhouse programs — were left on the outside looking in after struggling during the regular season.

    On Monday, everything was different.
The Hurricanes — no longer a bubble team — were awarded the No. 2 seed in the Starkville Regional where they will open Friday night against third-seeded Central Michigan. Host and No. 1 seed Mississippi State, will face fourth-seeded Southern in the double-elimination regional tournament.
“It’s awesome,” said Hurricanes pitcher Evan McKendry, a former North Broward Prep standout. “Watching the [NCAA Tournament Selection Show] the past two years and not having our name called, to finally having it called was extremely exciting.”

Miami had hoped its season resume — which included a 39-18 record and impressive series wins over ACC runner-up Georgia Tech, Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh — would have been enough to give the Hurricanes an opportunity to host a regional.
    A return to splendor?

For second year in row, Knights not in NCAAs

By Brian Murphy in the Sentinel
For the second consecutive season, the UCF baseball team reached the threshold of the NCAA Tournament only to watch the door slammed shut in its face.
The Knights were listed as one of the first four teams left out of the tournament field, which was unveiled Monday. It’s a result that mirrors the end of their 2018 season. They last made an NCAA appearance in 2017.

UCF finished this season 36-22 overall and 11-13 in the American Athletic Conference. It was the Knights’ third consecutive year with at least 35 victories, which helped third-year coach Greg Lovelady reach 100 victories faster than any previous coach in program history.

UCF rebounded from a midseason swoon and overcame the loss of six pitchers who suffered season-ending injuries to make a late run at a tournament bid. The Knights won 11 of their final 14 regular-season games, including victories over NCAA Tournament teams Miami and Florida Atlantic. They added two more victories in last week’s American Athletic Conference Tournament before being eliminated by the eventual champion, Cincinnati.

The Knights also defeated Florida State, Florida and Miami in the same season for the first time since 1985. But while those three teams got into the tournament, UCF came up possibly one win shy of making its 13th NCAA appearance.

    It is the sea breeze.

The land heats up faster than the water, so you get rising air over land drawing in humid air from the Gulf and the Atlantic. This will give the possibility of rain and thunderstorms. If the two sea breezes meet you will get strong storms. No cold front is involved.

Yes, I know - for Florida. I was asking about the other regionals. Same afternoon thunderstorms? Or other reasons for playing early - in the heat vs evening?

Nope. The rain comes with a front unless they are on what is called the "ring of fire". At the edges of a high pressure system you get a similar late day updraft due to land heating.

Yeah, the fronts come through at random times . Easy to predict the late afternoon thunderstorms here in Florida in June.

Sully wanted to avoid the start and stop of the rain delay. Earlier in the season, we went into extended weather delays...even though it was sunny out and beautiful, but the radar predicted thunderstorms to come through Gainesville about the 3rd inning, etc. sully just didn’t want to waste a starter...

Anyone else tired of hearing UCF fans complain. It is starting to tie into the old adage.....Death, Taxes and UCF fans complaining. Here is an idea......step up into a real conference and play day in and day out big boy games. The UCF baseball fans are boasting over mid week games against the big 3. Who cares, shut up and do whatever you typically do this time of year! It would not surprise me if they claim to be National Champs this year in baseball! [IMG]:):p

Ok rant over for now! LOL

They had a losing record in the AAC. That is all there is to this.
