Heartbreak end to State's season. Thought they had it.
Louisville's reward is Vanderbilt who should send them home.

Hows it feel MSU...hehe... I don't care much for Lville athletics in general,,at least since Denny Crum. but that was great to see. Especially ball rolling in front of the helpless looking 'Hit king'.

Thought this might be miss st year, guess not.

Still a long way to go to catch fsu, but they now have 11 appearances with no title. One behind Clemson for second all time. At least they made a final a few years back.

Tough strike zone at the end of that game.

I was waiting to hear any Hail State player give the Cardinals credit and/or congratulations for winning the game last night.

    It never happened.

All I heard was "We're disappointed....we had a great season...we will be back next year.....we have the best fan base in the country...blah blah blah..."

They have a long way to go in learning how to lose properly.

First order of business is to give respect to the team that beat you.

    Sportsmanship 101.

Its got to be tough - they had it within their grasp. They are competitive young men - it will take a while, I believe, for them to gain the kind of perspective that will allow them to congratulate their opponents. As Vince Lombardi said: "show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser.
Interpreting the phrase "show me a sore loser, and I'll show you a loser" is difficult, however. It could mean: Someone who has just lost and has justifiably got angry about it is still someone who has just lost. which implies "any failure is a failure, however you take it. i.e. any failure is bad

The irony is.....giving respect to your opponent right after a tough loss would actually help these young men feel better about their loss.

    In other words....it is therapeutic.

Maybe something was said during the post-game presser - I haven't seen anything except the short post game interviews.

I should also say this is not the kids' fault - I put it on all the adults surrounding the kids. They should be pounding this into their heads.

Yeah, I agree with that - but that is a difficult thing to see in the moment. You and I have some decades of perspective that they dont. Also, you and I weren't giving our all to win that game and then to get interviewed about it just minutes later.

Just my opinion, but it doesn't matter what they say to the TV cameras if they pay their respects to the actual players and coaches post game. At that point it turns from sportsmanship to public relations.
