Golden State Warriors vs. Toronto Raptors.
Leggo Toronto Drakes!!!!
I may actually watch some games....at least until it gets late. I hate the games come on so late for us old folks.
Warriors in 5
Champion has been determined each year since Durant broke the nba. He redefined take the easy way out in life to be a winner.
I think they’re actually just as good without Durant. GS would’ve won the titles they did with or without KD.
Durant went out with an injury late in the third quarter of game five against the Rockets. The Warriors won that game and haven’t lost since.
Durant being on the Warriors might not help them as much as it hurts the other teams he may have played for. The Warriors are playing keep away.
Keep in mind that the Warriors have the same team without Durant that won a title and actually beat Durant and Westbrook. They still have a big 3 (Curry, Green, and Thompson) without Durant, Boogie, and other injured players. AI should be back for finals as well, so that is 4 excellent players. Signing Bogut for depth after his Australia season ended was very smart move, as great passer and knows the offense having played with Green, Curry and Thompson during early title years. Looney is developing as a solid young big and Livingston provides veteran depth.
I saw a stat the other day that said in Durant’s three years with the Warriors they were 28-18 when Durant played and Curry did not and they were 34-4 when Curry played and Durant did not.
Warriors will sweep them
Don't sleep on the Raptors. They match up against GS as well as any team in the league. Still think the Evil Empire wins, but it'll be 6 games, maybe even 7
I think they're actually better without Durant. Talk about an embarrassment of riches. Looks like Cousins might be back game 1 or 2, Durant hasn't been cleared for contact yet
Ding ding ding.
The Warriors are not better without Durant. They are better when they are motivated and not sleep walking.
The Durant injury has them fully awake and motivated to prove they don't need him to win the championship, which is true IMHO. (I just shook my head when Barkley made his predictions of the Warriors' demise after Durant went down.) Similar to FDR's quote, the only thing the Warriors have to fear is........
(although one more injury to one of the remaining Big Three could be problematic)
Barring further injuries, I'm not expecting a competitive series, particularly if AI is back and healthy. But, I will admit that I have been picking the wrong teams this year in most of the series that didn't involve the Warriors' now-annual cakewalk.
I thought the Bucks would take their series with the Raptors. They would have if Van Fleet hadn't caught fire. You never know what player might tip the balance in a close, competitive series.
I can't say Durant or the Warriors did anything wrong in teaming up to make sure they could defeat LeBron. But, I am definitely pulling against them and hoping the Raptors pull off the miracle upset. And, I'm hoping the Warriors get broken up sooner rather than later. Would love to see Klay catching assists from LeBron. He'd get his chance to be an All-Pro in that situation!
Maybe. I still can't believe the Cavs took them down in the year they broke the regular season wins record.
I remember when the Lakers set the regular season wins record at 69 (Wilt, West, Goodrich, etc) and then rolled to the championship in the playoffs. I remember when the Bulls set the new regular season wins record at 70-something and then rolled to a championship. Then, the Warriors did it (What is it now? 72?), but didn't close the deal. Then, Durant joined up. Unprecedented! ...in my memory.
Plus Toronto has home court advantage? I didn't see that coming. I guess no matter who won the east they were going to have to win on the road.
If only we could do that to Kentucky
