Chooses home state Bulldogs.
Perhaps the one I most wanted in this class.
I heard the Florida staff backed off due to nutrition concerns.
I think Mullen continues to go after him pretty hard.
Never wanted him anyway
This. No way Dan gives up on Pickering. He's a 5 star talent that he's known for years. Hopefully, Nates love for Gainesville will help change his mind.
Get him in for a game. If not, you have no chance.
Hopefully not everybody will jam me (CRL hope your with me) but we hear "new staff needs time to build relationships " but then they lose the prize Jewel they've been recruiting for years?? Home school I know but notoriety wise and history wise MSU not in the same universe.
I know I know we will keep after him. Honestly, I expected this one at 80/20 Florida. Believe it or not some say LSU is second. If so, what the heck happened???
Good but not elite recruiting staff
I understand your angst. It is not my job to defend the staff, however I will say this. It is June and its a long way to go. This is your staff and I will wait and judge the class when the ink is dry. Let me also add that things can and do change quickly. This time last year the UF class was a lot different than the one signed. Also at this time last year the eventual #1 ranked class at UGA was not close to what they inked on signing day. No one wins the recruiting title in June.
All of that said, I also would like to see more success on the recruiting trail.
In this case the big thing is family being able to see him play. Why would anyone jam you for being disappointed. However UF was never 80/20 and distance has always been a concern for Pickering.
Nate is definitely one of my favorite recruits this cycle. We're not done recruiting him and as I've mentioned in my notes for the last several months I believe there's a good chance we can pick up Diwun Black from MSUs/ole miss grasp. He'd be a he'll of a pick up too.
Agree on both and I do think Black is a possibility. 4* currently a REB commit for those unfamiliar with him.
Staying home is understandable. If he grew up a fan, that is hard to contend with. You would have a hard time getting me or any of my kids to look at any school other than Florida.
Board does not love curmudgeons.
Just felt like this one would an easier one as we continue to hear about relationships and Mullen and his staff established a relationship with this young man three years ago.
Mississippi recruits will never be 80/20 for UF. Anyone believing that is fooling themselves.
So your saying Mullen was never a major player for this kid?
Seems to disagree with your thoughts. In fact once Mullen was named I can tell you many felt Pickering was better than 80% to us. Please read what Miles says and remember this guy is really good.

Great article. Mullen has some work to do.
