(I love ya, man . . . but step away from the keyboard for a bit.)
I didn’t post until the game was over, but I am venting. By the way, I just watched Dayton put away VCU on the road in a real tough game.
Did ya happen to see Florida beat their last three opponents by near blowout scores, or are you a full fledged Dayton fan now?
I love AG too...but c'mon man.
Despite the final score tonight, we almost blew the game against an average team. Glover and Payne bailed our butts out against Vandy. We are lucky that the SEC stinks this year. I am a full fledged Anthony Grant fan and will be circulating a petition to propose a constitutional amendment that he be made the head coach of Florida.
We did not almost blow the game tonight. We almost blew the lead. Big difference.
We controlled huge parts of that game and won going away.
We doubled up our halftime lead to win by 14. That is not "almost blowing it".
Don’t you think
That when your lead has been cut to two points, you might lose?
Not with 17 minutes to play.
"Almost" losing means it is close at the end of the game. Not in the middle of it.
"Almost" losing means they rimmed out a game winner at the buzzer.
"Almost" losing does not mean winning by 14.
I like AG, but this is kind of a silly post. VCU has lost three straight and four of its last five games.
Dismissing Florida’s 14-point win against Arky in favor of Dayton’s 5-point margin against VCU isn’t a good look. There are much better pro-Dayton arguments - if you feel so compelled to make em. But even that would be an odd thing to do as a Gators fan.
For example, we almost took LSU to overtime last time we played them in Baton Rouge.
I'm not a fan of the droughts and lost faith in white but the team is doing what it needs to do right now so I won't complain. We have been looking for the "turning point" all year and while the competition hasn't been great, the first step is beat who you're supposed to. We are doing that now. As long as we Continue to win the games we should, compete and win a couple of the others and make the tournament people should lay off White in my opinion
I think it's safe to say tampa is done with White (he's obviously not the only one) and that Glover is the new Cheese.
And, Nembhard is pretty much the new Kasey Hill, although tampa does begrudgingly concede that AN is talented - he just wishes Nembhard would take his talents elsewhere.
That reminds me! I always thought LeBron had come up with the "taking my talents to" phrase that he used in The Announcement. But, watching something on Kobe a few days ago, I saw that Kobe used that phrase when he announced he was going straight to the pros from high school. Just an observation.
Great thread title
What about when an "average" VCU team cut Dayton's lead to two points with less than 7 minutes to go? Dayton and VCU combined, by the way, have fewer Sagarin Top 50 wins than the GATORS have this year.
Well, that definitely counts as "almost lost", according to the new math.
FWIW, Dayton has a schedule ranked #99 in KenPom. Ours is #41. But who cares, those schedules are "almost even".
Is Anthony Grant the answer now? lol He took Alabama to 1 tournament in 6 seasons.
I'm just HAPPY to see Brent back to posting! Been tough on here without you!
No and when we kick butt Saturday you will be rethinking Cal!!!
So by this standard a good team must exponentially increase a lead during the entire course of a game??? ........... Ummm Not even Walton / Wooden during that 88 game win streak could do that!!!!
I'm not a big fan of Cal for the record. I think of him as a successful stock broker who just happens to sell to 18 year old basketball players. His coaching ability leaves a lot to be desired.
