thanks, I knew Goodman wrote the song but did not know the circumstances, appreciate your posting
One of the most classic tunes from Woodstock!
Michael Shrieve on the drums with Santana. Best double stroke roll with accent in the land for a minute there...tight. I was actually there. Details fuzzy
I was there as well. Mike was only 17 at the time.
They weren't supposed to play until Saturday, and Carlos had eaten some 'Shrooms. By his own admission, his guitar neck had become a serpent, and he had to fight it off the entire song!
I'll never forget Woodstock. I just graduated high school. Had my moms Dodge Polera wagon and crashed into a guard rail leaving town. (deal with that later) We parked miles and miles away and rode bikes in. When we were riding through the woods on the dirt road, in the valleys you'd hear the small groups playing music and singing together. We'd stop and hang. When you got to the tops of the hills, you'd hear the concert music roaring in the background. Cops on horses- pretty surreal to say the least. I was lying down listening to the sounds around me not too far from the OD tent and I remember the helicopters coming in and out and couldn't help but think of friends in Vietnam. Sounded like Huey's under the circumstances-heck, maybe they were...
Thanks, whatta- I needed that!
Loving the older stuff being listed
Just found a young group called Greta van fleet
I like their sound but don’t know how to post a link
Try Black Smoke Rising or the Safari Song
Another blast from the past from the car's jukebox today. 32 gb of music - you never know what's going to pop up. Well, at least you never know what's going to pop from amongst all my old CDs that are on there.
