Best statement I’ve seen where he points the finger at himself. Can’t link article because it’s from TOS but here is an excerpt. "I mean it is something, little things that appear to be different things, that as we fix one thing we had an issue somewhere else," Mullen said. "So for us you're just trying to get the consistency out of everybody, and everybody within the program. We go, we play great run defense for a bunch of games, then we play poorly. We go, we don't turn the ball over and then turn it over a bunch. We have a lot of penalties, then we have no penalties. "That consistency, that's on me, that I've got to make sure that we're doing what we need to do to play at a high level and perform at a high level. Because when we're not making mistakes, we've been a pretty good football team this year and we've played well. You know? Part of it, we've got to find a way to win these close games. We have a couple losses in one-score games, we've got to find a way to come out on the other end of that."
We'll see..... it's just "lip service" until we actually see the changes made. Gator Nation as a whole needs to stay on his behind
Would like to see Dan turn it around. This is nice to here but if he really wants to make headway, showing a pic of TG's car kicking up dust on the way out of the parking lot may encourage fans that something REAL is being done. I mean, what if we beat UGA and the defense plays somewhat well? I have NEVER participated in "firing coaches" threads (other than defending) until this year. It's also disconcerting (the rumors) that UF would continue in the current direction with the DC to save a few bucks for the remainder of the year. That's tough reasoning for fans to accept. TG's on strike 6 not strike 3. Wish Strickland would take the bull by the horns and implement what the fan base has been clamoring for: More funds for recruiting, elite assistant coaches and NIL Player Packages. We know that there are at least 4 or 5 other programs in this conference that will spend the money.
What’s the old saying? Actions speak… Fire some of your buddies. Then maybe you can start earning back our teams trust.
Agreed. Consistency out of everybody? We already have that. Hev's recruit is consistently bad. Knox consistently rotate hot RBs out and put MD at the end of the games to lose them. Needless to say TG consistently underperforms. So it's lip service until the 3 are gone.
If Todd Grantham was an honorable man, he would announce that he is stepping down at the end of the season. He shouldn’t let his “friend” Mullen go through this. That would be the best case scenario.
Oh, but he can't do that because all the Grantham recruits would quit,...wait,...there are no Grantham recruits!!! We're good with that suggestion.
But if you asked Grantham do you really think he would admit it was his fault? You can always blame someone else. Todd doesn't feel like an "extreme ownership" type of guy.
My first though was, you think! Man, hubris I’m done with him. If he wins a natty, I will eat crow pie. Made with ducks
What he should say is that we have never really put together a game where the offense and defense are playing at a high level against a quality opponent in the same game (not Vandy)
The fact that it takes so long to hear such a thing, makes me doubt he really means it and instead is throwing out there to appease the masses. I hope I’m wrong though.
I understand, sometimes you can try so hard that little things go wrong and then it snowballs in the wrong direction. Happens to everyone. Flip the ferrari over, knock out the dents, engine still runs and try it again. But now you have an attitude and the edge/focus that will hopefully get you a win breaking your way next time. Al you can do is keep trying.
Some had pitchforks demanding accountability. He does just that, and now it is lip service? Also, please remove that 'neck' comment. SMH
Nothing to get out of bed for. Wake me up when he actually admits that he made a disastrous decision retaining Grantham, admits to making the wrong assessment on the starting QB over and over again, admits that he is a terrible recruiter and actually takes action to fix all these issues. Until then it is still status quo, coach speak, buying time.
Are you living in fantasyland? He's a worker with a salary. Plain and simple. Name 5 coaches at his level who have done this. Makes no sense. He's done. It will be announced.
