Teenage pregnancy rate in the US is the highest in the world

Blacks and Hispanics have twice the teenage pregnancy rate than white teenage girls

Many teenage girls get pregnant, as it pays more than working for non college grads. You get food assistance, housing assistance, heating assistance, free school lunches, free summer camp for kids, subsidized low cost cable and cell phone service, and you also get welfare checks, which vary in size by State.

Flat not true. 9 of the 49 other countries studied in this paper had higher teenage pregnancy rates.

    https://www.jahonline.org/article/S1054-139X(14)00387-5/fulltext

You can get food assistance, housing assistance, heating assistance, and subsidized cell phone service whether you have kids or not. You also get each of those while still working (along with welfare checks and school lunch for your kids). But I'd love to check your math to make this claim, as we were having a discussion on another thread about this very subject.

With regard to welfare and public assistance, most States have formulas on the amount of welfare and public assistance you receive that are highly dependent on income levels. For teenage girls living at home, they rely on parents income as well. Many single women struggle when getting jobs, as it results in loss of or reduced benefits or subsidies. Some do not pursue Dad’s for child support due to father’s low income level and loss of permanent custody, which reduce benefits as well. Formulas increase payment for more kids. If you have one kid as a teenager, twice as likely to have a second within 12-24 months, as compared with other kids. Amount of benefit varies significantly by State as well

Simply because you wouldn't be surprised by your arbitrary feelings ("I wouldn't surprise if 50% of those on food stamps are lazy and refuse to work") does not make it so. You may want to do a search and see how many folks are working a full time job and still qualify for them.

The above charts prove very little to me. Reduction on paperwork? Really? and what does that have to do with any effects on the actual regulations? So reducing paperwork is an accomplishment? These stats show mostly projections and reveal nothing of what regulations are being axed-- which is what I ask specifically. So there is no way to determine which regulations are "necessary" and which are deemed "not necessary" only the savings on the paperwork. These savings could also be a product of more information being recorded and stored electronically. Which of course could have happened without any regulations being axed whatsoever.

Average Hourly Pay (12 months) chart does not qualify what jobs and what pay scale is being cited as the basis of this 2.7% increase. Which of course can drastically effect what looks like a rosy result. It may not be so rosy for the working class but with the tax cut pay increases to the top brass of most large corporations it could easily give this number a thumbs up without this or any other qualification.

Unemployment figures are always misleading. Remember how the right all criticized these same numbers that showed increases under the previous administration as being "doctored" or not representative because of the amount of folks that have quit looking for a job? And in addition most economists admit that unemployment even in the best economy will still be about 3% to 4%-- so the 2.7% is good but hardly unexpected. Not to mention difficult to attribute to anything the current administration has done to affect this number with only the short period of time it has been operating.

Fox Business host on Trump tariffs: 'We'd be shouting' if Obama did this

Fox Business Network host Dagen McDowell said on Friday that conservatives would be “shouting to the high heavens” if former President Obama had implemented massive tariffs the way President Trump has.

McDowell, speaking on Fox News’s “Outnumbered,” said there has been a lack of criticism for Trump over escalating trade conflicts between the U.S. and other countries.

It hits heartland, it hits the Trump voter,” she said.

Trump has threatened another set of tariffs, worth approximately $16 billion, for later this month — China has promised to respond with additional tariffs on U.S. goods.

If he really wanted to make us umm, I mean them pay he would put a tariff on imported clothing from China. We import more clothes from China than any other country. Want to bring them to their knees, put a tariff on clothes manufactured there. 2017 US Apparel Imports Level with 2016, Vietnam and Mexico Notch Big Gains
Why not put a tariff on that. I have no idea why that is. Does anyone have a guess?

The Constitution establishes that Congress is responsible for tariffs. Congress passed a law on the 1960s allowing the President to impose tariffs only where it affects national security. These tariffs are naked and unconstitutional exercises of power. None of the justifications we see argued here or by the Administration concern national security.

Interesting point, I did some checking and found this article from CNN:

President Trump has the power to levy tariffs

It did list another reason which was a little bit of a stretch.

So we impose tariffs on countries allied with us in Iraq and Afghanistan. Remarkable.

That is not the issue. The issue is that Congress has the constitutional power to impose tariffs, not the President. Congress passed section 232 ceding to the President the limited statutory right to impose tariffs for national security reasons. It is an abuse of power to invoke national security as a justification for retaliatory tariffs divorced from national security. Then again, national security is the justification authoritarians use to usurp power. Trump has abused his power and a feckless Congress is not standing up to him.

I don't trust those Canadians. They're too nice and they're too quiet and they live right above us. Here in Seattle, up near the border, if you listen real close late at night, you can hear those Canadians sharpening up their ice skates getting ready to come down and attack us.

He isn't right about much, but trump is absolutely right that Canadians are a threat to our national security. We can't trust any country that has that many people who speak French.*
