Cute thread title. Of course it's not completely accurate. Starbucks is using more plastic but that's not the whole story.

    Liberal millennials....thinking they are cool.

A REAL coffee drinker uses a mug, and drinks it HOT, strong, and black. No fancy schmancy pretty names for their drink. Just plain ol real, straight up coffee that will jolt you to life on the first gulp.:D

    Straws for coffee---SMH.

You can get cold brew unsweetened, which would basically be black coffee you drink ice cold with a straw. Not saying it would be good, I've never found a "cold brew" that keeps the full flavor of a fresh brewed coffee, but that is something that would be drunk using a straw.

Of course the iced coffee and frappuccino is with a straw. They are pretty good on a hot day, but i don't even consider them coffee. Iced coffee isn't bad when it's just a little sweet, But frappuccino might as well be a milkshake it's so sweet. Some of them have more sugar than a 1 liter coke. That's some nasty $@$%.

The new Starbucks Frappuccino has a ridiculous amount of sugar in it

And men secure enough to not feel they have to drink hot coffee on a blistering summer day.

A strong cold brew...little cream...feet in the water.

    Thats livin' my friend.

Well the age poll is proving true here.

I love coffee. All coffee. Hot. Cold. Sweet. Black. Flavored.

Coffee is like wine now. You base your choice on the event.

Who wants hot black coffee while sitting on the beach? But it is perfect to get ready for work on a cold day.

    Seriously. Newer ain't always bad...and it ain't always liberal.

So they banned non-recyclable straws, moved further towards recyclable plastic, and the righties want to twist this into a negative? Is hating the environment just some rightie thing now?

A few "righties" might. Most of us think its a great idea. The new lids are pretty cool anyway.

A fair question may be to ask how many people are recycling the lids to their coffee in the first place. I suspect the answer is not many.

If they’re theoretically recyclable, but just getting thrown away in practice, the change would potentially be creating rather than solving problems.

I don't go to Starbucks, so I can't say if they are taking this approach or not ... but I noticed Chick-fil-a has both a garbage and recycling container in their store, for their Styrofoam and plastics, so if people separate and use it, and that is the approach Starbucks takes, then maybe it be for the better. Starbucks is also going to continue to have straws, just paper ones, from what I hear.

Have you paid attention to what is being posted? The main subject some of us are jokingly mocking is a "cold coffee"....NOT the straw subject. Or are you just reading the posters names and assuming they are being negative on the recyclable issue?

I would wager most, if not all in here have no problem whatsoever with straws, lids, cups, etc being recyclable--I know I don't have a problem with it. It's better than using plastic/styrofoam by far and any change in the right direction is fine & positive.

Having said that--I am just like you...I don't go to Starbucks. Been in a few over the years(and I mean few and I mean years...:p) I would have no problem with paper cups, paper straws, lids, stir sticks--whatever. Just pout coffee in it and serve it HOT! The way it was meant to be served.;)
