Out of curiosity, since when does the MLB play 7 inning doubleheader’s?
Last year. Covid related. They have kept this year-not sure if it will permanent.
They are also trying a bunch of new rules in one of the minor leagues!
Same time they started putting a guy an 2nd base if one of those 7 inning games goes 8 and beyond. Its pathetic.
I don't like that at all. Just seems too gimmicky.
That is the rule for 9 inning games as well. I agree stupid!!
They have also changed it so IBB can bypass the 4 pitches.
Actually I like the not having to throw all 4 pitches on an international walk. A complete waste of time.
It was a blatant attempt on their part to limit legitimate triples—but I have it from a reliable source that @WESGATORS is all over this and that dog just won’t hunt….
I never cared for those international walks either…
Just plunk the guy and do it in one pitch.
Shortening the time for a double header impacts concessions. Just goes to show you that even ridiculously overpriced food and beverages means nothing to a MLB team's bottom line.
Ive seen countless WPs w/ runner on 3rd. Ive seen Ole Miss hit a game winning HR.(I wont mention opponent)
It is far from a formality. It may should be , but it aint. Or wasnt..
Softball still makes you throw 4, and saw drama this past post season on some of those. Balls in dirt, runner(s) going half way forcing a throw, etc
The Oakland/Reds World Series game pitching to Bench is the classic.
