I can agree and disagree with that video.

Do I think there is waste, yes. Do we spend too much, yes.

The money should be left in the citizens hands to do with as they please. Not redistributed into other frivolous govt programs.

I like how he blames the spending on Trump, then uses stats showing major increases in military spending dating back to 2001.

Regardless, I read somewhere that the we spend an astronomical amount on the military compared with other countries, such as Russia, China, England, etc. I really don't see the reason for that, unless global meddling is our goal.

Not a Trumper, but take was that he largely blamed the "military Industrial complex" for the bulk of the problem and used Trump's name as sitting prez in describing the $200B increase from 2017-2019.

Either way, probably too much that can be reallocated and more smartly and more efficiently spent.

I agree we waste far too much and we could be far more efficient in how we spend the money we do.

The military has its faults, sure; but I place the large majority of the blame on contractors who protest every decision and tie it up in challenges that cost tens of millions of dollars--and the politicians who support and enable them.

I get it: it's understandable to have a strong defense industrial base. I also get wanting jobs in your state/district. But when it's commonplace for the initial bid to be protested 2-3 times on damn near EVERY contract...the net result are: higher unit costs when it does get built AND there's delays in getting it to the troops.

Reform that and you'll save hundreds of billions each year.

And let's not kid ourselves that military spending goes part and parcel with great power status. It always has and always will be. There's a reason both China and Russia have quadrupled military spending to catch up to us: they want our spot. We shouldn't blind ourselves to that reality.

More military build up means security and more high paying JOBS!!! With the added benefits of added innovations and inventions that can and do see commercial uses... like the the Internet and GPS to name two very important military innovations through investments like the ones that the Congress and Trump have approved.

Yeah... that's a good investment for all Americans, and for our American future.

So more military spending is more gov spending which will result in “more high paying JOBS!!!”

So use gov spending to support jobs. Socialism.

There is a difference between welfare when you just giveaway money with no reward and investing in jobs that create more jobs, and that have the added benefit of protecting American military lives in the process.

It's also Constitutional spending. FACT! "...to provide for the common defense..."

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled wasn’t convincing the world he didn’t exist.... it’s was convincing America that spending all its fortune on the military is good.

We spend a fraction of our wealth on the military.

By way of comparison: I'm willing to bet you probably spend more as a percentage of your income on eating out.

This is typical big gov thinking. You can't know what BETTER innovations & BETTER spending was crowded out by the gov taking money from the private sector. I put my faith in the private sector.

It's also Constitutional government spending so... there you have it. Not one Pub that I know thinks military spending is bad. So we, might agree to disagree about the amounts and that's okay, but we still need it for many reason including to fulfill the duties of our government. Read the Preamble to the Constitution...
