HE'S GOING TO SCORE, HE'S GOING TO SCORE, HE'S GOING TO SCORE
Honestly, much deserved but still depressing. Along with Spurrier, he was my childhood for sports. Going to miss that guy. People throw the phrase voice of a generation around, but really, for a lot of Gator fans, he really was, multiple generations.
MICK AT THE MIC
A look at Gators play-by-play voice Mick Hubert's career from 1989-2022 in numbers:
SPORT GAMES MOST GAMES YEAR
Football 419* 92 1996
Men's basketball 1,061 90 1998, 2005
Baseball 1,027 88 2002
Total** 2,507 87 2011
*Has called every UF football game since the 1989 season opener; **Does not include approximately 100 events in women's basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and gymnastics
Mick Hubert Retiring as Voice of the Gators - Florida Gators
Wonder who will call games now? So used to Mick...
Isn't Gene the fsu announcer also retiring too?
As much as I will miss his enthusiasm and Gator blood, I will not miss the constant "oh my!s" and some of his other favorites like " quarantined". They got old very quickly, and, even though Dick Enberg didn't mind, I always felt like it was wrong to use someone else's catch phrase.
I HATE his broadcasting. Don't care if he is an alum.
Man, I hope so. Never seen an announcer as biased as the fsu guy. He even says "we" when referring to anything the seminoles do.
Wow! I'm shocked like everyone else and sad that I won't hear Mick's great play-by-play . . . but also happy he's leaving on his terms and for his own good reasons.
He gave us some irreplaceable memories of some fantastic championships among a ton of other great games and I can only thank him.
Take it to Too Hot, bud!
Oh, my! Ohhhh my! Oh my. Ohhhh myyyy! Oh myyyy! Ohhh myyyy! My oh, daylight come and me want go home.
Come on guys, nominate me. Pretty sure I can get it right before kickoff.
Congrats, Mick. All the best. Enjoy.
Can't stand his voice
What a sad day.
Mick is absolutely one of the best, and what an awesome way to go, No long drawn out ego trip retirement party.
When I think voice of the Gators, the first two names that come to mind are Otis Boggs and Mick Hubert.
Daggum this is sad.
I agree, and I'm one that really liked David Steele too....he just didn't stay very long.
I hate to see him go, but when you reach a certain age you realize most of your life is behind you and the time left is family time. Thanks for sharing your time with us Mick.
