Mertz is one of 10 QBs to be invited to participate. Florida Football: Graham Mertz set to showcase skills at Manning Passing Academy
Indeed. And I'll bet it's something he'll relish and make great memories. A chance to hang with the SEC's best QBs and mentor the next crop.
Mertz: "We won five games (last year) and point blank that's not it." Correct, and 2 of them were against the Little Sisters of the Poor.
That's why I said it's good to be Arch Manning. Personally, I would have turned it down, if I were him. To be publicly awarded something you did not earn and to take a spot from someone who did earn it, just because of my last name, is pretty cheesy. His uncles could give him a private training camp anytime.
I doubt he is taking a spot. He more than likely has been going to this camp since he was old enough to go. The camp is for 8-18 year olds. The college guys get invited for some coaching themselves and to mentor the high school players. 2024 MPA Registration
Not being a homer, but we have to admit that Mertz really did progress last season under a not so favorable situation (an establish O-line and receivers, except for one). I am happy that Mertz goes to this academy. Not so much that he will learn something new. Yes, he will learn more than one or two nuggets. But that he can show his his skills and abilities for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Not only that, if the fan base is honest, he was not exactly welcomed to UF with open arms, many being hyper critical of Napiers QB choice from the Transfer Portal. The young man has been tremendous IMO. At every level. Play, leadership, work ethic, ability to public speak. I'm a big fan and will be cheering for Mertz to have a spectacular last year.
