Right now there are massive protests in San Juan with crowds estimated at between 90K-500K (island population 4M). They are calling for the resignation of the governor after transcripts of leaked chats were released including offensive remarks, possible corrupt acts and a disregard for the suffering of the people during the hurricane recovery. It started a few weeks ago when the FBI arrested several people connected to the administration on charges of corruption and the chats helped solidify the connections. Then there were mentions of acts he took during the recovery for political gain rather than in the best interest of the people. He is refusing to step down and it's pretty much blowing up. I saw a few protests down there when I lived there, but nothing like this.

Five things to know about Puerto Rico's protests and scandals

I think the major issue was his crass attitude toward the people suffering in the aftermath of the hurricane. I think the media is playing up the homophobic angle a bit. They used to tell Ricky Martin jokes when I was there and that was only like 8 years ago.

I was ok with the governor’s comments when he made off color jokes. I hated, but tolerated the sexist comments. I didn’t even think he should have resigned after hearing him mock the hurricane recovery effort.... but I absolutely draw the line at making fun of Ricky Martin. Intolerable.

Corruption in Puerto Rico..who knew...shorter list....who didnt know? It was no fear why he called it out, not some brilliant insight. The problem is his lack of fear also compels him to relish the chant regardless of how vile it may be.

I met a young lady from Puerto Rico. She is very upset what’s happening and wants their Governor out, and right now.

Not sure about that spin. Just because Rosello is incompetent doesn't mean Trump gets a pass.

Rosello appeared incompetent from the get go, but he initially had joint press conferences praising Trump while his citizens were under water, only much later he started ragging on trump and the relief effort.
Trump's main animosity/tweet storm was actually with the female mayor of San Juan, Carmen Cruz.

Trump willing to say what no other politician will say? Yes - he spoke what everyone knew but was afraid to say.

This has nothing to do with Trump. It's about this guy's actions. Take the Trump BS to the other 6,000 threads on him.
