Tackling the important issues of the day ... Lawmakers are concerned that shoppers may not realize that 'veggie burgers' are made from veggies.

Mississippi is forbidding grocery stores from calling veggie burgers “veggie burgers”

I guess to avoid confusion from people who had never heard the term "Veggie" before.

Personally I don't think it matters and renaming it doesn't keep alternatives away from shoppers. From a shoppers standpoint where it gets confusing is marketers using similar packaging, colors and labels on their own products.

Walk into any CVS and you'll see the CVS brand sitting right next to the name brand displaying similar packaging and color schemes.

As long as the label is prominently displayed that designates it is a veggie or vegan product I have no issue with it. Making the product appear as something it is not is a totally different basket of worms.

All my friends from Mississippi actually don't know what a veggie is.

In related news, candy cigarettes must now contain tobacco and non-alcoholic beer must contain alcohol.

Of course they do ... apparently a lot of them eat dog food and cat food because it has the word "food" in it.

    That also must be changed.

Seems that they may have a problem with the commerce clause. They may be able to impose the absurd requirement on restaurants, not sure about grocery stores considering that products like the one below move through interstate commerce.

If you haven't tried the Impossible Burger or something similar, I highly reccomend it. I honestly think they taste better than an actual hamburger. And I'm not vegetarian by any means.

If someone could make a hamburger out of alfalfa sprouts that tastes as luscious as a 5 guys, I'll give it a go.

As CCH mentioned, try the Impossible burger or the Beyond Meat burger. They are delicious.

Maybe that's why Beyond Meat stock is kicking booty. Thanks for the heads up! :)

It’s over valued at this point and should come down. I’m waiting for that point to get in.

Why is it legal to call it an FSU “education”?

I personally use Almond “Milk” on occasion. It’s not terrible. My wife cannot digest any dairy so sometimes her stuff is the only stuff in the house. To be fair 96 the carton says Almond Drink, not Almond Milk
