FWIW, Grayson McCall is entering the portal.

    Again.

Did he pass Arts & Crafts this time around ?

In theory. No one knows what will be a true freshman player's play against elite competition. Brown would have been in his third year and with some experience.

He never saw the field on the baseball team. My guess is that Napier told Brown that Mertz would begin 2024 as the starter and 5-star freshman D J Lagway was going to be the back-up. If Brown wants to play, he needs to go somewhere else.

Methinks he wasn't given enough tries against the meh competition and definite wins (even against Arkansas or LSU). Napier read what he read and Brown does not think it will change in the future. It is what it is.

And perhaps a real OC may have the time to better negotiate the growing process.

Anyways, good luck Max. Wished it would have worked out.

I wish Max well but he’s not a year round QB (baseball) and did ok when he got an opportunity. I thought he played better and made better decisions against Mizzou with no prep time than he did with a week to prepare for FSU. He throws well on the run but I saw a QB who panicked under pressure in the pocket and was thinking too much. Lagway sleeps, eats, breathes football, a true alpha leader and a program changer. You’ll see. Major upgrade in the QB room.

Max Brown deserves to start somewhere. I hope he makes the most of the opportunity.

I think it was "If a chick hatches an egg in a hen house and no one hears it, is it still a chicken?". I might be a little off.

I hear ya. Maybe you don’t follow Lagway as closely as some. Tebow was a program changer and everyone knew it. Sometimes you just know. You wonder why Spikes and Harvin came to UF, Tebow. You know why Hayes, Filsaime, McCray, Adams and a whole slew of these kids are sticking to their commitment, Lagway. Alpha Leader!!!

I think that goes without saying. The writing is on the wall whether the words are said or not. He’s not going to see the field here in baseball without dropping football, and even then it’s a long shot. He’s the likely number three on the football team, and the number 3 qb doesn’t see the field. If he wants to play either sport, this is likely his only path to doing so.

I like him. I think he’s a good kid and a very hard worker. I wish he was staying, but that’s for selfish reasons. I understand why he’s looking elsewhere.

Nothing is set in stone yet either. If something falls through with Lagway or Mertz, he could pretty easily be brought back into the fold at this stage. IMO, keeping Lagway and Mertz is more important.

If ever there was a reply that is chickensh...

Okay maybe it was not THAT bad. I would merely reply that, if I was in a hen house, something came out of my nether regions, I made a proclamation of that fact and no one heard me, I would definitely duck.

    But that is just me.

All the talk about Brown, where is Miller? I figured he’d be the first one to go. If he stays, he kind of solves the number 3 qb dilemma.

Yes, of course. Every five-star QB recruit will be the next Tim Tebow. Money in the bank. How many times have we heard this before?

You think he needed to be given "more tries" against Arkansas and LSU? Lmao. The agenda is strong I see.

You do not understand the concept of the "changeup." I prefer to call it the "gotcha" player. I patently did NOT say that Mertz should have been yanked and sit those games after a 3 and out (or whatever). I am plainly talking about inserting him to energize the run game (11-11 versus the regular 10-11) and maybe a "gotcha" pass because the defense is now on their heels. In those games, our defense was NOT good enough to win the game. And so, we needed a sense of urgency on offense to score enough points...AND keep their offenses on the sideline. We did "alright" on offense with 100 percent Mertz. But that was just not good enough.

Not just hit the portal hard. We need all of our 1,000 analysts scouring the actual portal AND scour other teams for players that could help and offer them NIL money to come. At least with the ones leaving we know which positions we are looking for. Narrows it down a little anyway.
