Had an opposing coach of new Gators WR commit, Marquez Daniel, reach out to me and offer this feedback… “Daniel is the absolute truth. His presence when he just walks on the field commands the attention of everyone. Game planning for him alone was no easy task for our defensive staff. We single cover him, he blows by us. We bracketed him, he found short routes in grass. He’s a unit in pads.”
Per 247, Dynamic pass catching X-WR that utilizes his size and frame exceptionally well at the catch point on Friday nights. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 195-pounds, Daniels’s basketball background is easily apparent when evaluating him on the gridiron. A long but easy mover, the Alabama native makes a living boxing out opposing defenders outside the numbers while showing the ability to climb the ladder and turn 50-50 balls into a little less than a sure thing. Not just a big guy with ball skills, the Booker T. Washington standout displays natural route running ability and play tempo, showing the ability to create consistent separation off the line of scrimmage while attacking and creating leverage at the top of the route. Once he arrives at the catch point, the big bodied receiver displays some natural playmaking ability as a runner, flashing the shiftiness and long speed to outrun defenders in the open field. Although we don’t have a ton of verified athletic markers on Daniel, his multi-sport background and on-field production give us confidence in his projection as an above average to good starter at the Power Four level. https://247sports.com/player/marquez-daniel-46141659/
When I watched his film a week ago I thought he looked like a young Randy Moss. Outside of Cederian Morgan, he was my favorite WR on our board.
