Why so much hate for Marco? I’m glad he had the opportunity to play in the NFL. He’s still a rookie. Best of luck to him in the future.
OBJ has made a lot of defensive backs look foolish over the years. The entire Cardinal defense looked helpless and hapless against the Rams. Marco didn’t have a great game, but he was not alone.
What is with all the hating on Marco Wilson? I see the shoe-throwing incident not as being symbolic of the end of the Mullen era, but the beginning of the Napier era.
Some folks literally think the fall of Mullen's Gators happened because of the shoe toss. It's irrational, but that's fandom for you.
I mean, that did seem to be the tipping point. Take away the shoe toss, and we have a good chance to win. We certainly had the momentum. The wheels seemed to come off with that loss. Before the 20 LSu game Mullen was 29-6. Counting the 20 LSU loss, Mullen then went 5-8. So 29-6 before, 5-8 after. I can see why the fans would think that. More seriously, we probably would have fallen apart in 21 anyway...Even without the shoe toss.
It was symbolic though in hindsight. Undisciplined act on the field without much consequence from the side of coaches.... well this sort of seemed to make being undisciplined in general quite ok as a Gator. It led to more and more of the same. Whether it was the catalyst or not, no Gator could ignore it's relevance as a watershed event.
I generally agree here. The event (shoe toss) was baffling but what sent me over the edge was that Marco was not benched, and worse, was a captain the next week. In hindsight the lack of player discipline and the coaches demanding that discipline are clear from that event. The event was a giant red flag about our team and coaches, not just Marco.
Marco is a starter, as a rookie, on a playoff team. Marco is living proof every D coach under Mullen should NEVER sniff another college job.
