This is true. I just like the Zook reference because now they get to live in "poverty" (as we call it on Twitter) under Taggart cause it's obvious he's in over his head.

Speaking of Zook, I don't think I ever felt happier during that run where we defeated 3 top 10 teams in a row

Speed can be overrated when it comes to receivers. Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin weren’t fast. There are many fast receivers that aren’t that great. Go routes only get you so far. Steve Largent was almost slow. Speed kills but being a great football player overrides the numbers quite often.

Zook coached a qb that earned a Heisman whether he got it or not.

Rice and Irvin ran in the 4.6 range and had that late speed to chase down balls out of their last cut. Manuel and Fraziers have run no better than 4.8. That's slow for a TE. Unless they are underperforming at combines, they are purely possession receivers.

Who was that? Grossman "earned" a Heisman during Spurrier's last season and then had a very sub-Heisman season when Zook took over.

Would he know where he was on our board? My guess is staff would have wanted him because he's good and it hurts fsu. Rivals claims he had offers from Auburn, georgia, UF so he must want to be a nole. But who knows what will happen if they have another poor season.

Yep - there will be a lot of opportunities for FR WRs in 2020, should be able to bring in some top kids.

Zook accomplished a lot but it is true that he was in over his head. But this was his first head job- how could he NOT be over his head.

I think it's fair to say that Taggart is a poor man's Ron Zook It is a good comparison with the understanding that Zook is head and shoulders better than WT.

He's not signing with FSU early...I expect him to decommit too. We're still in heavy contact with him and Douglas

Wideman is a must get. Would prefer Mario Williams for next year over Douglas.

Watched him a couple of weeks ago, Venice HS has a couple of tall WR's........other than being a possession type WR, I'm just not seeing all the excitement everyone else is seeing......and the team I watched him play against that night, has been generally been bad in pass coverage all season!

He played really well against Trinity Christian here in Jax, and they consistently send DBs D1 starting with Gus Scott and going all the way to Shawn Wade at OSU

He’s a stud and Manatee is the hottest team in about a 90 mile area winning 6 out of last 7 games. Wideman is a big time athlete. Not many better athletes out there at WR. D-1 basketball player also. Keep in mind up until a year ago Basketball was his #1 sport.

big kid that will have a very good career somewhere. I’d take him today and be thrilled.

Think you need to learn about distances. Hottest team in 90 miles? So Lakeland that is 63 miles is not hotter? Hmmmm what happened when they played? 45-0 ring a bell?

Fast and a great leaper but not as polished as Henderson. How may are we going to take and where would Wideman fit in?

Manatee's best DB didn't even play, as he was suspended for fighting in the previous game, which left Wideman to be covered primarily by a Soph.......yeah Wideman's a great WR.......I'm happy with what Florida has committed currently at WR......and would prefer Henderson if they take another

Manatee started 0-3. Finished 6-4 and winning a district with a pretty good team in Venice in it. Venice plays a national schedule and has been as good if not better than Lakeland the last 5 years with a 59-8 record. My point w Manatee is as always they are pretty good. Been a very hot team recently.

Congrats on a good season, but bringing up Vience this year doesn't help your argument. They are not good this year at 5 - 4. I follow FHS football. Vience has been good over the last 4 or 5 years on par with LHS over the last 2 years nope.

Venice plays a national schedule? Not really just like LHS they may play a school from another state every once in awhile but I wouldn't call it a national schedule. They didn't play anyone out of Fl this year.

    LHS last 5 years is 54 - 7
    Last 3 years 36 - 1
    VHS last 5 years is 53 - 10
    Last 3 years 31 - 7

But your point of 90 miles and being the hottest team was my only point not so long ago no student is still on campus. But with in 90 miles of Manatee brings you to a lot of good highschool football. That isn't even talking about the semi pro team up the street.

Then again that is Venice you said Manatee and my point was LHS crushed your hottest team with in 90 miles 45 - 0. Untill Lakeland loses you have to put them as best in the state. Fully expect another LHS vs STA championship but you never know.
