Looks like he’s ready for a big time gig to me. He may not want it, but I would hope we’d at least make the call and see if he answers.

Is he a good coach who’s building a great program. Or is this just a lucky year for him?

Plenty of choices out there. Many will fail but a few won’t. Just make a decision and give him 3-4 years rinse and repeat if necessary.

Honestly, nobody realistic out there get's me that excited. They all have have something that dampens my enthusiasm. It would almost have to be so dynamic young up and comer. I'd even be up for Dan Quinn if he had a dynamic offensive mind he could bring in with him. Doubt he would bail on current job before season is over though.

Quality guy and good coach but he's right where he should be. He's the direct recipient of getting local talent that Ohio State doesn't want. With Ohio State's national reach, they only recruit the very very best in Ohio anymore leaving plenty of leftovers for Cincinnati. Fickell is a Midwest guy to boot so he has plenty of connections in the area. Honestly, Scott Frost and Billy Napier are the only current head coaches that would excite me. Scott Frost will never work out in Nebraska given the lack of talent there but he had plenty too pull from for his offensive scheme in the state of Florida.

I would take him in a heartbeat and the main reason is that he would be successful but just as importantly his alma mater Ohio state is set at head coach for a long long time so we wouldn’t have to fear him leaving. Only program he would make the move to.

When Day goes to the NFL Fickell will go to anOSU, he's weirdly an Ohio lifer.

What makes you think Day would go to the NFL? Does he have ties there? Seems like a college guy and has it easy at tosu.

He's a young dude at 42, he won't be there for 25 years, he has some NFL QB coach experience, at some point someone will dump a ton of cash on him to try it in the league.

I wanted Scott Frost the last time. I honestly think he would kill it here.

We're in a distinct minority but I tend to agree. There's also a good chance that Frost will be available by the end of this season although I think the chances of Frost ending up in Gainesville are rather slim. If Mullen is canned Stricklin and the University Athletic Association probably won't make Frost an offer on the basis of his record at Nebraska.

Don’t be a dummy, hire Hal Mumme! He’d probably do it for a cot in the locker room & all you can eat hot dogs.

I have no doubt he can coach but probably doesn’t have the magic spell to recruit $

We have to get a staff that can coach . I was a high school coach that tried to teach contact first. You have to strike !! But our guys absorb blows. They can barely defend themselves. I’m sick for the players having to play under this pathetic staff!
I know Fickell will at least have physical teams. We are in a 4-5 year build starting today! I’m just absolutely befuddled!

I think we have to get an offensive mind that can find the best coordinators that might not even be on his current team. But they all have to be fierce recruiting coaches too.

We can never allow a receiver to get behind our safeties.... period. If we go to zone we should be able to pick off several QBs in any game. We need fast and SMART Linebackers... And our D-lineman have to learn to shed the O-linemen even if they are holding.

One coach I hope we keep is the TEs coach... He is one of those coaches that should get a promotion from the next coaching staff... must be retained.
