We do better without that #1 target on our back! I think that’s the case with all the sports. Only the 2007 hoops team came thru....and that turned out to be less joy and more “relief” , due to *perceptions*.

Really? You felt relief after 2007 basketball? Was it the couple game skid at the end of the season that created that in your mind? I loved that team. I thought it was fun the whole way through.

A couple of the best baseball clubs felt stressful to me (2012 in particular) and of course 2009 football.

I had a good time, personally. But it seemed that many on the hoops forums were stressed...

    bogey—

Just my thoughts here but to me it seems that the “stressed fan base” is the one that wears pressure too close to the surface—

What I mean is (and this is partly media-induced) there are a lot of fans that seem to think or show emotions that if you’re not beating opponents by “X” number of points or runs then you are not living up to expectation—

The games are highly competitive and hard—anybody that has ever played knows a point/run spread is the last thing on player’s minds—but, IMHO, not so much with the fans—

I guess I didn't spend enough on the Hoops forum to know. That group was a loose, fun group. Loved the way they played.

I think the one and done format of the ncaa’s basketball tournament Exasperates the doubt, stress, etc. it’s stressful for the favorite.

A single loss in the regular season then gets scrutinized to the nth degree and gives rise to the doubts and tension, etc.

Looking at this list again, why is the SWAC #10? Drew Mendoza and Drew Parrish are legit good. Van Eck, a reliever last year, had good numbers last year. They have a couple other relievers returning with solid numbers. They have a couple bats with decent power coming back (6-7 HRs) but no one with any real batting average save Mendoza. Is there talent there and I just don't see it from the 2018 stats?

    Greg—

I agree with you questioning the ranking—I think it’s nothing more than the writers trying to get mileage out of “11’s” last hurrah—

    “nagging injury from the gym”—

Specific sport, exercise, or weight room? Do you know how you tore it?

Lots of unknowns this season, IMO. Shouldn’t be any less entertaining, though...in fact, might make the season even more interesting to see how it all unfolds.

New faces at 1b, SS, 3b.
Losing a lot at C, too.

Outfield might be set. Might have freshman Jud at CF.

Pitching rotation is missing the typical *no doubt* Friday ace we’ve typically enjoyed in the past. To me, a lot of interchangeable pitching talent in the pen, though. Should have stellar depth to develop. Will be interesting to see who emerges...and when. Lots of rolls to to fill, like the closer. Should have some quality lefty specialists too - like butler.

Several pitchers can play in the field too. Having that option available to sully might make some end of game substitutions interesting.

The Dugout Club (official booster club) hosts the team, coaches and staff for a pot luck dinner at the beginning of each season.
