You could say that early in the season, but they seal clubbed both uga and Oklahoma, and it wasn't just the offense that did it.

I don't like comparisons across decades. I feel like the best we can do is ask how good a team was compared to the competition that was around at the time. Would the 96 Gators play the same offense if you tossed them all into 2019? Comparisons like this are just nutso

I’ve been hoping it’s successful in large part because of Burrow. If it’s plug and play, next man up, we will have our hands full.

They're only averaging 2ppg more than 96 team.

49.1PPG if you take away the 21 scored in Tally, the lowest total of the year. Broke 60pts twice, 50 five times. 7 games with 50+ points. Scored 40+ in 11 of 13. Only Vandy (28 pts) and F$U held us under 40 pts.

Sorry Tebow fans. 1996 is by far and away the best offense in UF history.

These are all different types of guys, so the comparisons aren't fair. If you're comparing JB to anyone it would be Peyton or Danny and he's definitely in that league IMO. Timmy would compare best to Frazier (I did it for you) or Young. JB runs, but is still more of a traditional passer in this offense. Frazier, Tebow and Young were guys where the run game was at least 1/2 of who they were as a QB. None, IMO, would be as good in this LSU offense. Likewise, Burrow wouldn't be as good in our offenses under Urban.

Why do you think Billy left? I think he was dumbfounded he couldn't get more out of that run. However, he was also undone by the beginning of the 1-and-done/Calipari/douche era.

My comment was in reply to the contention that Burrow wasnt worthy of being considered in any "the best" conversation. Not best running or best throwing, just best. A QB that dominates a season.

IMO, JB dominated this CFB season as well as any QB I've seen in my 48 years.

Well that's just silly. He's definitely in the conversation. Just like Danny. I like to keep reminding Gator fans of this, because a few seem to have forgotten. I laughed when someone brought up the '08 team before 1996. That's who this LSU team reminds me of.

LSU has dismantled everyones defense except Auburn’s. Just seem to get better every week. Crushed a good UGA team and decimated / embarrassed 12-1 OU.

I would have to say, yes, best SEC offense I’ve seen in memory. I mean Burrows just tossed 7 TDS and ran for 1

Unreal, cut up OU’s defense like it was a High School outfit.

I believe this LSU team could beat 1995 Nebraska.

Maybe, but there’s no way they stop that ground game. I’d give 95 Nebraska the edge there.

1995 Nebraska took years to perfect. It just wasn't a few players.

No I didn't. Bama has big holes in their defense also. They have for several years. Their offense has helped them to the table numerous times. Same thing with Clemson except against osu. I'm thinking if they play def like they did against osu that their game against lsu will be a good one.

I attended every single game in 08, so for me, the comparison is more about the lack of respect each team got despite beat downs. There’s people on here who think we should have beaten LSU, my A&M relatives thought they had a shot, my Bama and Georgia patients were not afraid of Burrow at all. I would smile and tell them “you should be”. It reminds me of every single post-Ole Miss game in 2008 where opposing fans all had their ideas how to neutralize Tebow. That was such a good feeling to walk into every stadium knowing we were not going to lose. I imagine it’s similar to the ride LSU fans are on right now. I suggest everyone go back and look at the final scores of our 2008 season after Ole Miss. It was pretty exhilarating.

They beat AU by 3 and the gumps by 4. And we were ahead of them in 2nd half. They ain't 95 Nebraska. Or as good as several other all time teams. I'd take 2008 UF against them too.

Even if they go 15-0 beat UGA by 27, UF by 14, OU by 35, beat bama with tua in Tuscaloosa, beat Auburn, beat A&m by 45 and cap it off with beating Clemson who hasn't lost in 2 years?

08 was a great team, but they had a loss, at home. Lsu going 15-0 this year will be more impressive.
