"I thought we took a major step forward offensively," Johnson said at his radio show Monday.
Count Tuesday as another step forward. LSU scored seven runs on eight hits in the first two innings against Louisiana Tech, leading to a 11-1 win in eight innings over the Bulldogs at Alex Box Stadium.
"I feel like we made some improvements. I think they showed up immediately in the game Saturday. I thought we battled a really good pitcher on Sunday and then carried it over to tonight," Johnson said on Tuesday. "It's hard to hit but I feel pretty good about where we're headed there."

LSU (18-4) scored five runs in the first inning and two more in the second.
Five of LSU's first six on the night hit singles. The only hitter who didn't (Jared Jones) drew a walk. The singles barrage resulted in Hayden Travinski, Josh Pearson and Michael Braswell driving in four runs.
LSU's fifth run came after first baseman Grant Comeaux fumbled a ball at first base during a rundown between first and second base that allowed Paxton Kling to swipe second and Pearson to score from third
Jones then hit his eighth home run of the year in the second inning to stretch LSU's lead from four to six. The Tigers also scored a run in the third and fourth — Travinski hit his fifth home run of the year in the latter — to take a 9-1 lead over Louisiana Tech (16-6)
Tommy White, Travinski and Pearson all finished the game with multiple hits. Tuesday was the eighth time this season in which the Tigers had 10 or more hits. White eventually ended the game with a run-scoring double — his fourth hit of the night — in the eighth inning that put LSU up 10 runs and triggered the 10-run rule.

"I think we've just been sticking to our plan a little bit more efficiently," Travinski said. "Got some swings off on some good pitches and the results just took care of themselves
