No one expects wind and solar to function as the main supplier of power during winter storms. Wind turbines have to be shut down if the winds get too high, and solar power is least useful during the winter months. Sorry, pal, that incident is the responsibility of the state of Texas, for not having contingency plans for keeping its fossil fuel power generators on-line, and for not being connected to the national grid. If it weren't for the limited power output of wind and solar during the storm, a lot more would have died.
