The manager from the Philadelphia location got transferred to Sacramento and is wreaking havoc there, too.

What you're seeing is why liberals in control will always find a way to ruin a good working business model... in real life..

Seriously man, what does that have to do with someone writing a racial slur on a freaking Starbucks cup?

If this is true, it is really sad. No one should ever have to deal with this.

But, Here is the thing. What is to stop a person from saying their name is "beaner" and then claim they told the clerk Pedro.
I mean do we know this guys story is real? The Philly thing was on tape, but this one?

How do we know what is actually happening in this hashtag/instant fame culture?

I guess that is possible, but since the manager searched out the customer, went to his work, and offered him a gift card, it seems likely that Starbucks is not disputing what happened.

And, Starbucks is kind of known for writting "funny" things on people's cups, so the employee probably thought he was just being funny.

Well, if that scenario were true, the employee is an idiot & should be fired anyway.

In response to recent developments, Starbucks is coming out with two new coffee options:

*Black & Vagrant (smooth and subtle for discriminating tastes)
*Rice & Beaners' Brown (one cup and you'll feel lazy, slow & ready for a siesta)

Starbucks should make their cardboard-tasting coffee free to all minorities.....that'll teach 'em.

You are probably right about the employee trying to be funny. Might have Hispanic friends and he hears it from them. The employee had to know the customer would see it. I can understand a child hearing a word from friends and using it again, not realizing it might piss someone else off.. You would think an adult would know better.

The story sez that when his coffee was ready they called his name, Pedro. That casts a lot of doubt on this alternative explanation.

I am just saying this will likely start happening, not that it did happen in this case.
I could walk in tomorrow and claim to Wyatt Crackah. Then tell the masses my real name, and claim the racist barista made that up.

My guess is , starbucks will stop printing names...just watch.

    Also this is odd. o_O

At any of the Starbucks that I regularly go to, they call you out based on the name on the cup, or by the drink ordered. The Barista generally isn't the one that took your order, so they often don't know your name until they read the cup, unless you are a regular that they already know. So, why would the barista call him by a different name than the one printed on the cup?

Agreed. If push comes to shove, I suspect the whole thing was recorded.

Cheech and Chong are a riot, but it seems to be a case of who says the word. There was also a well known rap group called N.W.A. As Bill Maher found out much to his chagrin, if the speaker isn't black, regardless of intent, the "N word" is considered racist. Apparently it's the same with "beaner".
