Primrose Inn, Manero's, Bambi, Original Pizza Palace, Subtereanean Circus, Larry's and Little Larry's, Wolfies on the ground floor of the Ramada at 13 & University, Windy's Barber Shop, Donigan's, The Pub on University about 3 blocks east of UF (bartenders who had blurry vision when reading IDs and best sandwiches in town). Ruby's not technically in Gville but sold liquor on Sundays just south of the county line on 441, Art's, Pirate's Cove & Beef & Bottle/Brown Derby.
from the list you could draw the conclusion that food and drink have long been a passion :)

The Rathskeller. I used to stop by there every Friday afternoon after my last class. A steak-um sandwich & a beer before the bicycle ride home hit the spot.

I also seem to remember a great steak house called Ray's on the east side of 441 near the Brown Derby

and of course the steak house that had the 6lb challenger right near the Steak and Shake

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dub's.

Hold on to your hats, boys. Yours truly was a cocktail waitress at that Gainesville institution the summer and fall of 1969. I wore a shirt. ;)

That fits the location of Art's - may have changed to Ray's when Art closed up.

In the 70s, stuff went down at Lillian's that could put a high percentage of G'ville's upper crust away for long time :).

At ATT today ran into the son in the family who owned the block with Mike's Bookstore and Lillian's. Good friend for a long time.

Left the original In & Out, Louis' Lunch and the Sovereign off my original list, used to be the happy hour home for the Gville Sun staff and half the politicos in Gville :) Chef Elmo and Lupe were the best :)

Lot of stuff went down at the old CJ'S after hours during the 80's. I shucked oysters off and on for 3 years there. It was a blast but put a hurting on the gpa. Thank god no digital or security cams back tben. Only one thing better than an oyster but you don't eat it on a cracker...
