This is an odd thread considering the article isn’t about masks at all.

It’s about Leon County mandating vaccination for Leon County employees. State law says they can’t do that and provides for a $5,000 per instance fine.

Leon County required 700 employees to provide proof of vaccination and fired another 14 for failing to do so, so the state imposed 714 $5,000 fines (a total of $3.57 million in fines) on Leon County.

Perhaps he should next prevent biz such as restaurants and bars from employing any sanitary measures.

While he's at it, get rid of laws governing violence and theft, and well all safety related laws.

    You know, personal freedom! :)

Vaccines work… right? If vaccines work the why should there be a mask mandate? Don’t want Covid? Get a vaccine. Still feel better wearing a mask… go right ahead.
If the vaccines we’re not working then yes.. maybe I could see a mask mandate. But they work… right? And every one can go get this vaccine that protects you from CoVid.. right? So why he mask mandate or anti mask mandate or whatever?

Resorting to the absurd is a sure sign of an argument lost. Well done.

Maybe Leon County can make up a charge for the DeSantis 2024 campaign for each death attributed to politically motivated health and safety decisions. What's a life worth?

You're basically asking the equivalent of why cars have airbags when seatbelts help keep people safe?

The reasoning is simple, multiple protections against a virus that is still wild and still being transmitted to the tune of 80k-90k plus a day.

My HS Geometry teacher would go outside to light during class, it would blow right back in, circa 1984. Ah the good old days

A former jazz director where I work left burn marks on one of the scores. The song title . . . . "My Old Flame." :D

So DeSantis has the authority to negate an EO or is the county not subject to the EO?

County attorney believes they have legal authority to act as they did. Who pays the bill for the pending lawsuit? Loser, ie state taxpayer?

This isn’t about an EO at all? That’s what I was saying made this an odd discussion - everyone is talking about executive orders and masks when the underlying article (and the fines it is about) have absolutely nothing at all to do with either and are actually about a statute and a vaccination mandate.

There’s a statute about requiring vaccination that Leon County is violating, the statute calls for the Department of Health to impose $5,000 fines for violations, and the Department of Health sent Leon County a letter notifying them of $3.57 million in fines for 714 violations.
