    I agree with your premise that there is dirt on both sides, but... There aren't a lot of people in Congress, or DC for that matter, that were in office, had power, etc. when the Soviet Union collapsed and in the direct aftermath of it. That was what, about 30 years ago? There were some, sure, but I don't think there were all that many. They would have to be what, about 45 at the oldest to be there and be really involved then.

    There is a normal and ordinary process for vetting the recipient of foreign aid for corruption. The U.S. President asking the recipient country to announce an investigation into his political rival ain't it.

    I would also add that prior to Trump's request for the investigation both the State Department and the DOD had certified that Ukraine was making sufficient progress in fighting corruption.
